Agree, they are for the audience which buy with their eyes, VU metre, Watt specs etc..
I guess I must be on something because I like them. I do however work with analytical equipment and some of that equipment sits in racks with equipment slots and are fixed in place with bolts. The handles assist fitting and removal and look great to my eyes.

Handles aside, the build and performance of TEAC stuff lately is fantastic.
I also have the Luxman D-N150 CD player mentioned a few posts up. That player punches way above it’s price class and the digital inputs make a superb DAC.
Though I still stand by my first comment: the best interim solution is to buy nothing.

how many Audiophiles do you know that will be putting their components into a server rack?

I was thinking the same thing. Especially shoebox stuff like the TEAC 500 range. Not even 1U or 2U height on this stuff.
Plus, the TASCAM stuff from TEAC is all rack mountable but doesn’t have handles.
I’ve definitely ruled out buying things because they looked too ugly (Naim NC range for example). The handles on TEAC don’t quite ruin it for me aesthetically, but they strike me as an affectation and they would all look better without.
I don’t remember saying anything about audiophiles and their racks, I said I like the aesthetic.

I’ve gone the very cheapest option. I had a very good Panasonic UHD blu ray player which I’d forgotten I owned which has RCA out connections. Sounds good enough for the interim
