That pesky 500

and therein lies another problem, we had the speaker cables laid through the wall to avoid having to walk over them. Unfortunately, the cables are not coming out of the walls so two need speaker cables are on order.

Just here, they arrived this afternoon

Will the windows be a problem to resolve ? As for sound quality and the need or not of acoustic treatment.

He’s letting the neighbours enjoy his system !

@Polarbear That looks like a great starting point! Bet it’ll sound wonderful!

That’s the idea, it’s a starting point. We’ll get everything set up and see how it sounds, then the adjustments will come and the sound will improve

@frenchrooster, we have Roman blinds on the way, just waiting for them to be made, everything takes time nowadays, the room treatment will be considered but in the meantime, we need to get the 500 back from Naim and get the system working:blush:

Maybe it will sound very good as it is. I don’t know what are Roman blinds, but guess it’s something to prevent bad acoustics from the windows.

I have some in my music room, along with some regular blinds in the same material.

Thanks sweatie.

Is it thick enough to prevent some bad acoustics ?
I have very heavy acoustic curtains.

It depends on the material you use. The advantage is they sit flat to the wall. I have the speakers closer to the wall and we don’t want curtains sitting badly behind the speakers. The other advantage is you can raise or lower the roman blind to suit if needed.

Good news, my Nap 500 is back at Cymbiosis

A big thank you to Naims service department for a swift turnaround

How exciting…is this a dedicated listening room…? If so, some really strategic room treatment will give you a huge benifit…good luck keep us posted…exciting.

Well hello system, I haven’t heard you for a while :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

@Polarbear

your speakers look great in the Tineo finish.
How far are your 808”s from your listening position and how far apart are they?

How is system sounding now compared to your prior listening room?

David

Always a good feeling listening to music on the hi-fi after some time away. What’s been on the playlist for the first few hours?

Thanks David, they are Red Tineo, stunning colour.

We are much closer than the old room, we are about 8 foot way and the speakers are 8 foot apart.

Stone cold, the system is miles better, we have treble, detail and there’s no hole in the mid range.

This is the best the system has sounded in five years, a very happy bear

We had radio on Sky but it’s not the same, we have had some Gary Moore, Dave Gilmore and Phil Collins on, just playing some Vangellis, stunning!

I heard these speakers at the NW Audio show last year….they are a very exciting listen…enjoy.

It’s a lounge more than a listening room, it has to be comfortable for both Karen and I. We will look at room treatments when the system has settled but we don’t want to turn it into a dealers showroom.
