The best new music of 2025 thread

OK here’s the outcome.

Thanks to everyone who posted, and especially those who indicated a top 3 or single best of 2025. I did not count albums from long lists ‘in no particular order’. My thread, my rules! There’s no VAR available either.

Approximately 85 albums were named in total, and only 7 got 3 or more votes. I think that is really interesting and reflects a pretty wide range of tastes on the Forum. The winners are

Saving Grace: Robert Plant (6 votes)

Geese: Getting Killed (5 votes)

Yazz Ahmed: Paradise In The Hold (4 votes)

Of course the real winners are those, like me, who ended up listening to a lot of music that we initially missed or ignored in 2025.

Here’s to a great music-filled 2026

Thanks Bruce for your efforts in running this thread. Like you I got to hear some good music that had gone under my radar in 2025. :+1:

Thankyou for for your efforts @BruceW .. some new to me albums to see in january. :+1:

The Geese album isn’t in my top 3 but I am really grateful for discovering them through this thread. Some great stuff on there but it is a bit inconsistent. Previous albums were more coherent although Getting Killed is still a really good album. Love the chaotic Black Midi-esque opening track.

Thanks @BruceW and all the rest of you.

Anyone interested in the Ken Pomeroy album should watch The Lowdown. Ethan Hawke vehicle on Disney. Her music features periodically and she’s in it as Pearl.

Days Getting Darker is off the current album mentioned by a couple of is above. The lovely Bound To Rain is a release tied to the series I believe.

I discovered they were in the UK the day after their London gig! Shame the acoustic companion to Bloom isn’t available on vinyl
