I would like to try that. I never usually shy away from such things.

A day of high fever then the shivers then two days (and counting) of raking coughing. No sleep until

Best over the counter medicine since Benylin & Codeine (perfect with vodka & crushed ice) was withdrawn

Wasnā€™t prepared for the level of quality feeling this Kinu M47 coffee grinder offered. Wow! Like grinding butter. Smooth! And the sound. And the weight. And the taste. Recommended!

Thatā€™ll likely be effect of the antihistamine.

Iā€™ve never bothered with NIght Nurse, though I used to find the Benylins quite effective fir symptom relief, though unintended sleepfullness was a risk.

I actually wish manufacturers wouldnā€™t include paracetamol in formulations such as this, and instead dose yourself directly so you know how much youā€™ve had. Not an issue if youā€™re aware, but many people arenā€™t and it then presents a risk of overdose if they also take parracetamol tablets believing that to be a good thing for recovery. Paracetamol is a very safe drug, but excess can be very damaging, and the margin between a safe dose and overdose is smaller than for many drugs.

I now have this set as above. For the scales I went with the MiiCoffee Nano Pro ones. Not as cheap as I originally planned (got carried away), but still significantly cheaper than the Timemore Black Mirror Nano. Itā€™s a nice scale, if perhaps a bit heavy in retrospect (itā€™s intended for travel after all)

So far Iā€™ve only used the scales & grinder. That works very well. The grind is quite uniform, although not quite as uniform as I get from my Bodum Bistro. Thereā€™s a few larger bits in there, but overall Iā€™m pretty happy.

Online there are some reports of off-center burrs that can be fixed by shimming, but mine doesnā€™t seem to have that issue. I guess they improved the design/manufacturing over time.

I havenā€™t fully dialled it in yet, but my gut feeling is Iā€™d like it to be between 13-14 clicks. On ebay people do sell aftermarket grinder plates allowing for more fine-grained adjustment, I might consider getting one of those.

The Zebrang shouldnā€™t require anything different compared to the regular V60, the drip-assist Iā€™ll have to figure out. Probably over the weekend.

Garnerā€™s were a very small successful business in our local town. Excellent product. In 2001 the owner sold to Baxters of Scotland with production staying locally. Then, about 5 years later, there was local uproar when it was announced production was to moved to Poland, which I think it did. Mrs Garner was still happy I expect.

Weā€™ve tried many brands of pickled onions, our best are the ones made by the fine ladies of St. Peterā€™s Church, Upper Gornal in the fair borough of Dudley in the West Midlands UK. Only available at their annual Christmas Fayre for the modest sum of Ā£2.50 per jar , we usually buy 6 or so to last until the next Christmas.

Iā€™ve ordered one, theyā€™re cheap enough to take a punt on.

Nice. About half the size of the Leica i have. :grinning:

The 10mm long Nikon surely must be no more than 1/10th the size of that Leica, or you must have tiny hands!

The Nikon measure 70x30x30mm at its widest point.
Leica is 105x36x36mm at its widest point.

Based on your dimensions.

The Nikon 63.00ml
The Leica 136.08ml

My absolutely favourite nut.
Saves having to spend literally hours trying to get them out from their hard shells otherwise.
They are THE most healthiest nut to snack on. Or you can tell me differentlyā€¦

" Doctors advise eating no more than five Brazil nuts a day to avoid potential health risks like selenium toxicity. This condition is linked to breathing problems, heart issues, and kidney failure." Health benefits
They are also radioactive. https://www.bfs.de/EN/topics/ion/environment/foodstuffs/brazil-nuts/brazil-nuts_node.html

I donā€™t know who those doctors are, or where they get it from, but that does not fit published data from the UK Food Standards Agency and Eutopean Food Safety Authority.

The recommended daily intake of selenium for adults is 75 Āµg per day for males and 60 for females. The tolerable upper limit for selenium was set by the World Health Organisation at 400 about in of about 2000, however the European Food Safety Authority conducted a study more recently and in 2023 published s scientific opinion that it should be reduced to 255 for adults.

There are other other dietary contributions to selenium intake, with the mean intake by adults in the UK in a study about 15 years ago found to be about 50 Āµg per day.

Brazil nuts have been found to contain an average of a a 254 Āµg per 100g, though actually quite variable and can range from 85 to 690. There are ~20 to ~40 kernels per 100g, depending on size, so an average of about 30. Putting all that together, on average a Brazil nut kernel contains about 8.5 Āµg, so 3 average nuts will take a male with an average dietary intake up to the recommended intake, 2 for a female. As for excess, based on averages it would take some 26 more nuts to take you over the new EFSA tolerable maximum uptake.

Even if you are impossibly unlucky and all the nuts you eat contain the highest level of 690 it would take a total of 10 average size nuts to take you over the EFSA limit, while if somehoe all the nuts are at the lowest selenium level it would need 6 nuts for a female and 9 for a male just to reach the recommended intake.

Personally I see nothing here to make me limit consumption of these delightful nuts any more than my sense of repletion would - though in practice I find macadamia nut to be just as delightful, and also pistachios and cashews (these last three dry roasted by tossing in a hot pan or air fryer, of course not salted. Funnily enough Iā€™ve never tried roasting Brazils.)
