Thanks for the recommendation - I see they several of my favourite brands.
I always found Moleskine leaked badly through to the page reverse.
Might it have been re-sized or thickened to make it more attractive to fountain pen users ?
As an alternative to your choice.
Rhodia are great with fountain pens.
Fountain pens with the range of nibs (flexible, rigid, medium flexible etc) just give you a wide range of expressionable options that a fixed point can’t.
They were nice pens. I have one or two somewhere in my collection.
I have those stick on pen holders on my note books and have
ordered one of your recommended Leuchttorum gel pens.
It’s not as though I was short of writing implements![]()

OK, the ‘best cities’ post went down quite well, so here are the 10 best countries (I’ve visited, before anyone complains. Never been to Japan but always wanted desperately to go there so that would be near the top of the list for me should I ever get to go).
- Blighty
- Finland
- Georgia
- Italy
- Norway
- Denmark/Faroe Islands
- Canada
- Estonia
- Spain
- Iceland
So there!
Great list! I’ve been to only five of those, 1, 4, 7, 9, 10. Nice places, but my list would look very different from yours if I could be bothered to think about it.
It is hot and actually tastes of ginger root.
Ice cubes, sparkly water and perhaps a few drops of consecrated lime juice.
Doesn’t help my cystitis much but it’s a pleasant refresher.
Their elderflower is good, too.
Not claiming the best - I’m still learning mixology - but this Last Word cocktail is pretty near.
Have to say, the variant using Mezcal ( a Closing Argument ) is very, very nice. But I’m near out of Mezcal…
I’m out of Green Chartreuse at the moment, but I’ve got a few bottles of first rate Mescal that I brought back…
Would atheist lime juice also work?
