The Blues

Bob, my first dip into the Blues, back in the 80’s, was buying these…

Stonkingly great discs.
I stuck with him into the 90’s but feel that after Strong Persuader, he drifted more and more to commercial, repetative, easy-going stuff… It probably earned him a boat-load though

Just jogging my memory as to blues gigs attended. There haven’t been many.

Buddy Guy and Koko Taylor double bill in 1990.

Taj Mahal and Robert Cray separate concerts, early 90s.

Don’t ignore the Black Keys tribute to Junior Kimborough. Different but very captivating.

Son House Delta Blues CD compilation. Recordings 1930-1, 1941-2. The sound quality varies, but the playing and singing is vigorous.

Muddy Waters – I Can’t Be Satisfied SPV 97572 CD, compilation. I am an occasional Blues listener and this compilation is a real favorite of mine.

I suspect most if not all these tracks are also found on this compilation. The SAGA label (which has a few Jazz and Blues historical recordings compilations) is currently heavily discounted at Qobuz (up to 80%)!
