Watched this video last spring in a class I was taking on music and dance. Is the Koch version the full ballet or just the suite?

I agree, it’s a great version. I also have Alexandre Tharaud’s version (piano) and two versions on harpsichord, the old W. Christie on LP I bought in the early 80s (when he still recorded on the harpsichord) and the more recent by Jory Vinikour. I like all of them, and I love Fazioli pianos, specially on early music. Thanks for the reminder!

A wonderful example of “Leçons de ténèbres”. Lalande was a sacred music composer for the most part (I think!), so his “Leçons” are more spiritual than some others. Very nice singing too.

The Doric String Quartet continue their Beethoven series with two new members in their lineup. Has their sound become a bit sweeter, edges and tensions slightly softened? I’ll need more time to be sure. On its own terms I’m really enjoying this album.

My latest DG Original Source LP purchase. Bought blind on the back of enthusiastic reviews on the internet which claimed it to be revelatory interpretation. The good news is that both discs are blemish free and well pressed: never a given with this series and perhaps even a first in my experience of them.
The bad news is that I think this performance is simply awful. Overly deliberate, pedantic, way too slow and just annoyingly stylised. I can’t really see that I’ll ever wish to play it again. Yes, that bad.
Fortunately, I’ve heard (and own) a lot of wonderful performances. Maybe I’m just a bit weird in my preferences as for me the best Eroica I own (on Vinyl anyway) is this: Fontana, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Konwitschny.

I recently stumbled across this charity shop find and it’s also pretty compelling, and a particularly fine advocate for a work that many conductors portray as a Mozart/Haydn derivative; Symphony #1.
Konwitschny and Leipzig convince me like few others that this is a work worthy of Beethoven.

I picked up the recent SACD box set of her concerto recordings. Still waiting for the Oistrakh SACD box set, which I ordered from Amazon in May.
