The Day the Music Died

A new album is due out shortly by an artist I really like. It’s going to be available on streaming and vinyl only. No CD, Bandcamp etc. I hope that’s not a sign of things to come…

Well if the only way to store it is vinyl and the only digital format is streaming, they might find they sidelined by history.

The number of countries with full Tidal and Qobuz service isn’t enough to put food on the plate as the only distribution means. And if we’re talking Spotify or Amazon Music, then, yeah, forget it.

I have just read an article in the British Guardian newspaper, that CD sales are rising amongst young people, who are tired of paying £40 for an LP. Maybe your favourite artist’s record companys need to catch up.

Thanks for an interesting listen, all quite shocking.

Rick Beato’s interview with Ted Gioia is also worth the rather long listen.

Perhaps they don’t have a record deal / company and its a self funded release.

That doesn’t mean your comment is wrong, infact, I agree. CDs are much cheaper to record to and duplicate.
