Certainly, milking with skateboards, baby clothes, backpacks, no doubt boomerangs perhaps for the Australian market and other ad nauseam nonsense.
But don’t let it rain on your soft parade.

Good to see you got your copy. People over on the Steve Hoffman Forums outside the U.S. have been fretting about delivery.
Mine came from someone I know - I think he got lucky with quick shipping to me.
Mine is finally due tomorrow after paying the customs duty online.
Just hoping it arrives unscathed. There are lots of reports of corner damage to the box itself and seam splits on the sleeves. Seems like the outer box is barely adequate
My box and covers are perfect, much to my relief.
But…inside Waiting For The Sun, the record is another Soft Parade. Dammit! Decided initially I’d just swap in the correct disc in January when the albums go on sale singly…probably easier than negotiating with Rhino across the Atlantic, but we’ll see.
Soft Parade sounded absolutely wonderful last night on 'phones. Haven’t touched the others yet, beyond checking for correct discs.
PS If you get two copies of WFTS and no SP, let’s hookup!
From the Hoffmen mixed views on Rhino customers services but on the whole good reports.
One guy bought a Grateful Dead box set but didn’t open it for two years (these vinyl people are a bit strange).
He found one of the discs was missing and Rhino shipped a replacement free of charge with a 15% off coupon - all after two years from the purchase.
Worth the time it takes to send an email.
Good to know, thanks @AndyP
My Doors box arrived today in perfect condition.
The damaged boxes and split sleeves one sees on FB etc must have had some seriously rough handling. The outer box and sleeves are pretty robust. Only issue is thaf the inner sleeves are ridiculously hard to put back in the outer sleeve (like all the other Rhino LPs).
I’ve only played LA Woman so far and it compares pretty favourably to the excellent AP 45rpm issue. I’m looking forward to playing the rest over the next few days.
Ive only played Soft Parade from the new set (on headphones) and compared only to the AP Infinity set SP and a Japanese pressing - so much, much too early to say, but I preferred the KG to both, and I think the Grundman boxset is at risk of being rehomed. But more play time needed, natch.
Pretty good cover of Touch Me - only a snippet as it fades out, but nice to hear.
Years ago back in the 80s I visited Morrison’s Père Lachaise grave and his Le Marais 4th arrondissement apartment in Paris. The Doors are always on my playlist at sometime through the year; such iconic tunes, but I have to be in the mood.
This sign on the London Underground trains always makes me smile, even though the joke is lost totally on many as they have no knowledge of the band.
Reminds me of many years ago, I went rushing to the local cinema just in case The Doors Are Open, the Granada TV film, was on there - I’d seen a notice that said it would be at 7pm…
Doh!
Young. Foolish. LOL.
John Densmore and Robby Krieger signing the new Doors book, Night Divides The Day due in April. I’ll pretend for now one of them is my copy.
I swear John looks like he’s signing his name backwards…
And Robby’s looking arch!
This just doesn’t interest me in the least, but that’s me. I think it will be more interesting from a historical perspective, but doesn’t mean the music will be good. Strange Days is a great album though. I rank it 3rd of their studio releases.
I have the Rhino HF box from late last year so I’m good with The Doors until I die. ![]()
I do wonder how these rough mixes were ‘found after 58 years!’…but Strange Days is a personal favourite for me so I cannot say I’m not very interested by this release…
I wouldn’t expect something that you put on to kick back and enjoy The Doors. Probably more a curiosity from a historical perspective. Maybe I’ll be proved wrong?
Personally, I think there is a lot of money grab going on with all this “from the vault” stuff being mastered and released for the first time. It’s pretty common with jazz now too, and some of the things I’ve heard leads me to remember sometimes there are reasons to leave sessions in the can.
I’m learning more to resist FOMO and and enjoy JOMO. ![]()
