A sad day indeed.
Very sad. It was among the first Jazz albums I discovered when young, and begun to listen more to jazz.
Rest in peace Astrud, your song will live for ever.
Descanse em paz…
So many memories associated with that Getz/Gilberto combo - a sad loss.
Rats.
Ah man … that’s so sad. RIP Astrud.
Sad. My love for Brazilian bossa can be traced back to hearing her on that album way back then.
Sad news - I discovered/ was introduced to this in mid life - not a cris rather a pleasant diversion.

I’m very sad to hear this. I’m recently discovering her earlier tracks and absolutely adore The girl of Ipanema. Her voice gives me goosebumps.
Bummer, we were just talking about her when the song played on Friday night last week at a Brazilian/Argentinian restaurant in the city.
Getz/Gilberto was the album that inspired my interest in Bossa Nova. Such a beautiful voice she had. I enjoyed her studio albums with Jobim, Evans, and others as well. RIP.
RIP Astrud
If I was going to leave my wife for anyone, it would have been Astrud … she just wasn’t returning my calls.
Her voice melted me …
A true voice for the ages…
Sad RIP. But the daughter Bebel Gilberto lives on and indeed has a beautiful voice and some great albums.
Sorry but I believe they are not related.
Bebel is Joao’s daughter with another singer. I think Astrud had two sons.
Are Astrud Gilberto and Bebel Gilberto related?
Daughter of bossa nova pioneer Joao Gilberto and Brazilian vocalist Miucha, stepdaughter of “The Girl from Ipanema” vocalist Astrud Gilberto, and niece of the socially progressive poet and songwriter Chico Buarque, Bebel Gilberto is a child of Brazilian music royalty. bebel gilberto - Google Search
