Without a doubt.

But you can’t let her know that.

The joys of living in Australia

This behind my daughter’s house

Eeek. Will she need to evacuate?

They’re packed and ready to go just in case but thankfully it seems to be moving in a different direction.

Back on the Isle of Wight to see how the build is coming along. Random photos showing progress so far. Kitchen going in, heating system being tested over the next week and decorators are busy. Builder thinks we should be able to stay over Christmas, although the work continues into the new year. :grimacing:

That looks impressive, happy?

That looks like a Grant Vortex oil boiler.

I had one in the old house and used to call it The General.

@Pete_the_painter yes we are pretty happy with progress so far. If we are not there for Christmas my wife might have a bit of a meltdown, me I’m a bit more relaxed. It will be ready when it is ready. On the plus side the heating system and kitchen SHOULD be up and running in the next week or so, and we have some beds and furniture so it should happen🤞

@AndyP we have a reliable builder who my wife’s family has known and used for years. TBH I walked in one day over the summer and the boiler had arrived and was being fitted. So I didn’t have much input into the decision! It’s oiled fired as we are off the gas grid. Were your experiences positive?

Yes ‘The General’ Grant vortex is solid and reliable. Clean and odourless - a good choice.

It is warmish to the touch and all you need to know is which valve(s) to open/close if the pressure drops.

If anything goes wrong and you want an answer straight away or if you think it is too stupid to ask your plumber the Grant helpline is brilliant.

I guess the ferry over managed to miss the containers of bananas that had gone overboard. House is coming on well.

Cheers Gazza. Had an interesting conversation with my mother in law whilst over there. I offered the view that I probably wouldn’t eat a banana I found washed up on the beach. She thought many locals probably would!

Dreadful scenes on Bondi beach, hope everyone on the forum and family is OK.

Absolutely horrible, I have no words for that kind of hatred.

If that news wasn’t depressing enough it now looks like my lymphoma is back, my treatment booked in for Thursday has been canceled and I have a PET scan instead.

This is terrible news for you Pete, I’m very sorry that you are having to deal with this again, but I know you will make the best of things that you can. Do take care and find solace with friends and things you enjoy.

Thanks Mike. It wasn’t a surprise I’ve been unwell for a few weeks, just now need to check to see if it’s spread to my organs before they work out what to do with me next.

Anyway, in happier news, how are you all settling in to the new home and are you enjoying the Nova (we use ours everyday. It’s a real sweet spot in the range I think).

Have to say I very happy with the sound of the Nova, while I’m sure it’s not as good as my original setup I can’t hear any difference. Truth is somethings actually sound better.

Edit this would need to be confirmed with side by side auditioning.
