Correct me if I’m wrong but did you not comment on the uncomfortable heat a last week Pete?
And summer only started yesterday :sunglasses:.
Marmite all the way and they don’t need to come up with silly marketing ploys.
The best way to stop cross contamination between spreads is licking the knife nice and clean.

Yes summer officially did start on the 1st, it was the hottest spring day on record I think. Luckily they’re forecast a wet summer, we can only hope. As for licking the knife my grandkids agree.

I love Marmite, but never tried Vegemite. How do they compare? I mean, you know, obviously Marmite is better, but are they similar?

I see that they have come out with a new, aged, Marmite. I wonder what that’s like.

I find Marmite to be richer, with a more savory kick. Vegemite is (to me) saltier with a weird aftertaste. But they are similar.

Marmite XO is darker still, and mellower. I prefer the original.

Ah - OK, thanks for that. I’ll stick with the original Marmite, then.
Cheers
Steve

I feel that we have had this discussion before.

What is the most marmite instrument? A sitar?

Is that even possible?!

The harpsichord?

Well thats a perfectly normal instrument for me! My wife and I agreed to buy one next year  I’m quite a Sweelinck fan and play most of his music. I’m teaching my eldest kid Mein Junges Leben now on piano. Stile brisé.

Back in the study days the conservatory instrument was a Kroesbergen Harpsichord, my teacher said ‘the best you can’t get’. It was a fabulous instrument but they are not on the market unfortunately.

Well woke up to snow in Colchester this morning despite the weather forecaster on TV saying we would not get any. After being up and digging out my daughters car…they issue a Met office snow warning. I cannot repeat what i said😬

At least it was accurate.

I’d love to wake up to snow, it’s such a foreign idea for us on the east coast of Aus.

Apparently, the Ovator speakers are marmite??? Even more Marmite than any other speaker, room, system, ears, mood, day of the week, interaction.

Bowers and Wilkins are Vegemite, though. :flushed:

Yes! Being an ovator owner, they are marmite indeed. They sound absolutely brilliant for certain music, but not for all music somehow.

I do not find them to vary much by source. I have active 600s powered by 3 x 300 and demoed most likely alternatives up to £20k without success. The reason for looking at alternatives is that the active route is very expensive particularly with 6m runs of loudspeaker cables.

I have owned many speakers from most of the main brands. The Ovators are my my favourite followed by TDLs (huge) KLH and SBLs (also active). Perhaps surprisingly, is that, for me the SL2s in retrospect are my least favourite. Presumably due to ears/room combination.

I presume you mean their ‘proper’ transmission lines… Have you heard the serious PMCs, notably MB2?

I found a pretty cheap active route for my s600’s: a supernait 1, the snaxo bmr, 2x hicap and a nap 200. I feed the SuperNait 1 from a Mac Pro using an optical cable. 12 metre Nac a5 runs to the ovators.

I very much like complex organ music, jazz or rock played on the ovators, but somehow the symphonic repertoire is not as good as organ, jazz etc. also a simple violin solo does sound steely, not as natural as one would hope a violin sounds.

I’m blessed with a 72/hi/140/sbls setup too and this does the symphonic repertoire well so all I need to do is to go to a different room

I wonder what happens if I add a high quality naim source to the Ovators. Saving pennies now.

Anyhow, listening to a Bach Prelude / Fugue on the Ovators is as good as I could dream of. Massive sound, controlled bass, smooth top …

I keep thinking that I ought to get a snaxo bmr, in case I ever get another amplifier. But they are expensive…
