They were the Studio Monitors. They were excellent but bass could become overblown due to an exposed beam running across the room, I had to put them on castors to move them into a benign position. I have not heard the MB2s just Fact 12 and the 5i.26. the Fact 12 were OK but I was dissapointed with the 26.
I had the exact same set up with the SBLs and it was excellent sounding, fond memories.
I too was unimpressed by the 26, coming from IMF. The Fact 12s were OK though a bit narrow soundstage the first time I heard them, better in a different room on another occasion, but I think may ultimately be limited in scale unless in a relatively small room. MB2s excellent to my ears.
Thanks for the feedback. Can the MB2s be used closed to the back wall? I have the Ovators 25 cm away which is ideal in my room.
I donāt know - itāll depend on the room and listening position.I currently have the EB1i, which is like a more bass extended version of the model below the MB2 (IB2). best position for me, with near flat response as measured with REW, is with back of speaker 20 cm from wall, though that is 50cm from the window behind upper half, so I donāt quite know what that mean the distance is! When not in critical listening mode I have them further apart without window behind, right up against the wall. The response is more ālumpyā, and I use DSP to even it out - although the result is not as good as in the critical listening position it is still very enjoyable.
OK thanks my room is 7.2m x 4.4 m firing across the room so the back to wall distance is very important, as the room is our main lounge.
No it appears youāre into burning socks.
Not even Pete, there are holes already in the socks. It was quite weak fire already.
Yes, I did thank you. His a little better now heās finished chemo and radiation treatment. Weāre planning a road trip in February.
We donāt know how long heās got but heās trying to make the best of the time he has left.
That will be a wonderful thing to do and a very special time. Iām glad the opportunity is there.
Ok just watched tv film of Lapland. It appeared once on tv then disappeared. Not available anywhere including dvd. Can only assume it was withdrawn because it caused offence. Thought it was really funny. Never associated with negative opinion of Lapland just humour.
How long ago. Some stuff does just disappear, they often only have the rights to show it once.
They followed it up with a series which is available, but this pilot offering has disappeared. Shame.
Just googled it thereās a lot on YouTube
Iām off to Bedfordshire Pete but I will investigate further tomorrow Have a nice day.
Thereās one on YouTube that wants me to invest at 4,680 Aus dollars. Think Iāll give that one a miss.
Peanuts to you Pete
Listened to the Rega Aethos and Heed Lagrange integrated amps today into some large Fyn Audio floorstanders. They were pretty impressive.
