The Grand Cafe

Went back for another demo today. The Heed was preferred over the Rega. Did an A/B of the Auralic Vega and Heed Lagrange against the Nova and the former smoked it. Interesting times. Unfortunately there was no SN to try, but I think the Lagrange might beat it…

I’m not familiar with any of those amps (I live a sheltered Naim existence). Those Fyns are apparently pretty good though, read some glowing reviews recently.

The speakers were great. But they are really big and need a large dedicated listening room, rather than a family lounge.

They quite a few though I’m sure there’s one that might find a home in my studio.

I reckon a 250 on the Aurelic would be fantastic. It really shows the gap without an updated 272 in the Naim range.

Read a lot about the Aurelic think their definitely worth a listen.

I’m having a few after dinner wines at the Restaurant. We’re in Auckland celebrating the end of the school term. Went to the ballet, which was outstanding, it was “Sleeping Beauty”. The girls are back at the room as Rebecca is really tired.

It’s nice to be somewhere different and a change to talk BS at the hifi shop and listen to fun stuff.

The ballet, there’s very highbrow Mike. I’ve never been but wouldn’t say no. I’m just having a beer listening to Bob Dylan, I’ve just finished my first 2 paintings since finding out about my mate. I never painted from the day I got his phone call till seeing him.

Wow. But such things are lifetime events. They take time to process and often bring much positive change.

I just didn’t feel like it, we’re funny creatures. Different things effect us in different ways.

Perspective Pete. But as you know, things do get back on track. Some things slower than others.

Yep, perspective is very important when painting.

Back at the room now, but it’s still light. Could sneak out for a sneaky snifter…

If the girls are asleep there’s no harm, a nightcap can work wonders.

Giving it a go, so.

Mike re your EE8 do you have it installed at the first link from your router.

I have a rather complicated network, my router goes straight into a switch that feeds my office, my Muso and to 2 other switches. One to the lounge room where it feeds my Atom, Apple TV and my cable TV, the other to my studio that feeds my Unitserve, the 272 and a wi fi extender. I’d need 3 of the buggers.

My router is downstairs in the media room. I have one EE8 connected to that router that feeds the Core, Nova, Apple TV, TV and Blu-ray.

I also have a long Cat6A run from the router through the walls and floor to the lounge upstairs with an Ethernet plug. My second EE8 is connected to that plug and feeds the NDX2 and TV etc.

So I’m going to need 3, they’re not cheap but least I can write them off as a business expense (hope the taxman isn’t on the forum).

Interesting thought! As a creative artist, I guess you could argue your entire system (at least in your studio) and music purchases are business expenses, getting your inspiration from music…
