Apparently called ‘sliders’ in modern parlance!
They’d look fetching with a cream safari suit. short or long selves.
5:16pm Christmas Day. Survived early presents after a cuppa in bed. Buffet lunch out with one brother and his wife and our mum. Now heading to Mrs Mike’s brothers for a family BBQ. Slowly sliding under the table.
R. I.P. John Edrich. I was at Headingley in 1965 when he scored an unbeaten 310. Anybody else in the crowd? OOPS wrong thread . I’ve upped stumps and headed out to Cricket thread.
No I’d never even heard of him. In 65 I was too busy listening to my brothers Beatle records and spying on his girlfriends.
A year before I was born, I’m pleased to say
You’re a mere child Mike, I was 18 months old.
There’s been a bit of snapping and di#k waving on a few threads, looks like it’s getting cleaned up now. Back to the music folks.
I was 10 and just starting to get inquisitive.
Did put up wats all the bitching , but it got deleted may be the right thing to do , but it does get you down after a while
That’s a pity the forum has been so civilised recently.
Grief ! I was in the middle of my degree course and had started flying at HMG expense !
You really are old.
I didn’t realise that until a few minutes ago
Probably explains why you’re better at the brain teasers then…
Thank you Mike, I need as much morale-boosting support as I can get, now that Pete has opened my eyes to that devastating news of being ol … I can’t say it … I’m trying to forget and deny …
Hay I’m not that far behind you, and you did lead with your chin.
Ha !
I went to the Trucial States (now the Emirates) in 1968. Weekends involved sunbathing, swimming and beach BBQs. Plus … the previous week’s Sunday Times and it’s Brain Teasers.
That lasted until '72 when I got posted to Salalah where weekends involved sunbathing, swimming and beach BBQs. Plus … the previous week’s Sunday Times and it’s Brain Teasers.
Ok, there were other things to do as well, and weekends didn’t always run smoothly, but five years of the Sunday Times brain teasers has undoubtedly helped to make me the Man I am today … “bl**dy impossible”, according to Mrs D
Same here in NZ. Those sun years have finally caught up with me now though, but seem to have got through that clear as long as I behave myself now
Time for a quick cuppa and nana nap before the family arrives for a BBQ. Brother is up, and there is pool and whisky planned.
