The Grand Cafe

Yep, it’s a flashback inducer. It sent the brick layer mad, think he ended up having a nervous break down and others had to finish it.

It really is. I actually like it in a weird way, but it does remind me of that experience, and I have had flaskbacks at times in the past.
I deleted my first reply post because it sounded a tad inapropriate when I read it, but thanks for replying so quickly.
Cheers.

Apparently it’s only inappropriate if you mention religion, politics or modifications to Naim gear. Plus we all have a past, it’s what makes us who we are now.

That’s good to know. I’ve only been here for a year or two, so I try to be careful. It was funny; I was used to posting on AK and SHF, and they allow a lot of s**t on those forums. Early on here, I got slightly testy with @GeoffC and he immediately set me straight. It was refreshing to be called up like that for not being respectful.
The other forums could use some of that.
But I guess mentioning LSD 25 is probably ok. Many of us did grow up in the 70’s …

And most of us can’t remember them.

Politics was ok up to a year or so ago, it was getting out of control though and a member vote was taken and we decided to remove it as a topic or subject.

Removing politics was probably a good idea. Some folks get so strangely passionate about the topic.

I never do if you agree with me.:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I grew up through a time when recreational drug use exploded amongst young people it went from small groups of friends experimenting still largely undercover because of course it was and still is illegal in the UK to large groups of up to 10,000 popping Ecstasy together and dancing in a field to House music I was 18 in 1988 and did partake in both.

The way I look at it is this it’s absolutely nothing to be ashamed of which is why I’m happy to talk about it yes people will say it was illegal but it didn’t feel like a crime then or now. I’m not advocating anything in fact my attitude to it has changed quite a bit on a personal level because after giving up smoking weed which I did habitually from my mid teens until my early thirties I realised that a lot of the very good reasons for not doing so where actually true in my case at least and I have to say I certainly wouldn’t encourage it.

Yes, much the same experiences. Even as to why I stopped, and how I feel about the use of it, now.
I wouldn’t encourage it either, especially for a young person. It does make one generally lethargic.
However, I was 32 in 1988, so the 70s were a little different.

I think I missed something, was it about gin? I didn’t touch the stuff for 25 years after a very bad experience in my teens…

Recreational drug use has changed so much. Gone are the days when it was a mellow smoke with friends or a nice little trip. Most of the younger generation want to get so of there face on coke or comatosed on ketamine.
Ramsgate see front is almost a no go area after 11pm. Most of the idiots are so coked up they want to fight the world and that includes a lot of the young women as well.

Good gin too, I am not a huge sprit drinker but I’ve grown to enjoy a gin and tonic.

The jump from gin to dope was based on a post that was deleted by the postor.

The only good reason for that is to open a Grand Cafe topic. The Grand Budapest Cafe topic or so.

That could just be a a name change and not a bad idea.

Pete’s Place?

That sounds a bit like a Beach Club, which is given the views from your house entirely understandable.

Among which members? Certainly not all! I thought it was just a Naim decree.

Snap! I discovered I do like gin just over a year ago - though I still don’t like Gordons (the standard pub gin in UK). It has become very fashionable, with many different flavours – sun tasting nothing like gin! The fashionable ones are quite pricey – and I am sure very good profit for the manufacturers being quite a simple drink to make with no maturation required.

The Grand Budapest Hotel was a great, if quirky, film.
