Some of the McDonald’s outlets I’m aware of through business turnover in excess of $15m-$20m in annual revenue
That’s a lot of crap food going down peoples throats a couple of times a week - yuk

Whimpy burgers, don’t think we had them my only memory was in a cartoon.
@Mike_S how was your few days home alone, bet your 250 got a serious workout.
Wimpy were far from gourmet burgers, but the meat had more taste than the McD I had, though I only ate W when there wasn’t a better choice of food around.
Agreed IB - I used to worf whimpy burger down with a few English beers late at night ha
Yes, I had a few good Batchelor sessions, loud music and naughty food. We’re heading to Auckland for a few days for a break and the builders will be back next week to finish the on-suite and garage work.
I hope Mrs Pete and yourself had a great anniversary.
I’ve been keeping a low profile here. I got a bit bored with some of the self-appointed moderators ![]()

When I lived in Hertford, the Friday routine was a 7pm start at the pub with the lads, ending with an 11pm curry at pub closing time. Slow Saturday morning.
What here, you can’t be serious. ![]()
You can only imagine that effect eating so much of this kind of rubbish has on their long term health
Some UK-based friends of mine who used to do a lot of international travelling would actively seek out the ‘Red-M’ when abroad (e.g. Moscow IIRC), as they thought it was one of the few tolerable establishments in some countries – obviously this speaks to their reluctance to try local cuisine and the potential tummy issues which could sometimes come with. I think it’s moved on from your experience but not much…
Did you ever try the UK rail-station experience that was Casey Jones (?) which, IIRC, was established by British Rail. Let’s just say that many people, fortified by that wonderful appetite enhancer of alcohol, would visit on their way home but, I think it’s fair to say, not many of the burgers made it there - I’ll leave the rest to your imagination. Of course, in those days, train door windows could be opened.
You’re either up late or very early
Pete - very early - for some reason my body clock has shifted to a 4-30am awakening - perhaps due to some very noisy foxes. Great to enjoy the relative quietness of morning though. I’ve always been a ‘morning person’.
Mind you, this means mental shut down around 9pm
…some say well before!
I’ve had lots of late nights watching Wimbledon and the TdF, good thing we’re in lockdown.
Thankfully, we are moving back to some form of normality here, with hospitality and other services having reopened in many parts - the question is whether people, especially the elderly, will want to resume a fuller social life, and what this will all mean in terms of validation of vaccinations, recognising a vax isn’t a silver bullet in all this, it just supresses the worst effects and you can still be a carrier (AIU).
Thankfully, there’s a lot of stuff to entertain at the moment, given the summer sporting calendar over here, plus the rugby in SA and the TdF (Cavendish - there’s a film in there somewhere).
30C forecast for this weekend here too - the lawnmower chorus will be in full flow!
30c! You’ll all be dead by 7.00pm
I feel a siesta coming on
…or maybe several.

For some light fun, Google the tractor and ute event in NZ today
Have I missed a pub fight?
Just a little confusion over the rules, nothing major. Check out the tractors and utes though.
