The Grand Cafe

I envy the Brits for that. They can hop in the car and be in the Pyrinies (sp?) in a day or so. Very nice …

I am - still :flushed:

Me too, I remember one member going off about all these people jumping on planes and how bad it was for the environment. However he was able to jump in his car and drive from England to just about anywhere in Europe. Think there’s a few who take it for granted.

Mrs Pete and I having a saying that you can’t get lost on holidays, it’s just an adventure.

Haha, good one bevo. It is a bit of a small island, but my youngest daughter had a 2 year visa in NZ a few years ago and just loved the country. I was surprised she didn’t try to stay there but I guess returning to Vancouver Island had too much of a lure.
Hmmm … always and Is!and tho. There must be something to that?

Vancouver Island is a wonderful place (damn cold), we’d definitely return for another visit.

For sure. From England, I would have had some excellent motorbike exscursions and many driving holidays with the family.

Indeed

I must say I loved living for many years in the UK in the 1970’s

Apart from the abundance of live music, the smorgasbord of places to go to was staggering ( having come from NZ)

Couldn’t get enough of it - all the usuals, Paris , Amsterdam , Athens, Berlin, Rome etc not to mention all the off track adventures in small villages in UK and throughout Europe

It was so goddam exciting.

Yeas, there’s some beautiful spots on the island. My daughter and her husband still do a lot of camping and they send us pics of where they set up. Very picturesque.
And I don’t like the cold either but the wife won’t leave Canada.

Amsterdam is one of my favourite cities been there 4 times, I’ve always found the locals extremely friendly and all of those Van Gogh’s.

Well David I’m talking 40 plus years ago. It is now a wonderful country and they have their act together

Before COVID I was going there 3 times a years travelling around and seeing people there that I still know

Heading there just before Christmas I can’t wait

Cheers

We liked Canada (only been to BC), funny thing is we met a lot of Aussies working in bars and motels. Buggers seem to be everywhere. :scream:

My older brother lived many many years in the UK on and off with corporate companies

He has returned to Sydney but give him half a chance he would be living back in London , it’s his greatest love that city. ( times change though as has 2 sons with their own kids here)

London would be my favourite city also

That sounds great bevo. Have a nice trip.
I came very close to emivrating to either NZ or Aus around 2000. In the end, my wife wanted to stay here.

Ya just can’t get away from them. Luckily, most of them have an odd sense of humour, so I get on well with them …

Sorry about that.

Well, I think that my own odd sense of humour was the result of too much Monty Python at an impressionable age. (With and assist from what used to be illegal weeds).

Think I’m in the same boat. I can still remember almost wetting myself watching Life of Brian at the movies, don’t think I’d ever laugh as much as the first time I saw it. I’m sure it’s left an impression that’ll never be removed.

Great movie. And I think I’ve watched The Holy Grail about 20 times.
I love the part in LoB when Eric Id!e is trying to hide from the Romans and just wants a quick beard from the guy, but the guy just has to haggle. Kills me …

What about the fish slapping one

I don’t think it was in a particular movie but just an episode in their early stuff

I think I did wet myself :grinning:
