The Grand Cafe

I know - it gets to the point where people think you’re really sick

And when I did get to the weight I should have been by the charts I did feel really sick

Greenies mate - can’t trust them ha ha:crazy_face::crazy_face:

I’ve no idea what that has to do with greenies.

Neither do I :flushed: probably a seniors moment :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I seem to be 86.7 kg, but just had dinner and clothes were on… Height is 1.72m. Could be a bit better, but I’ve been over 90kg, and around 70kg 20 years ago. Gardening and hills again when the rain stops, and soon it will be pool weather.

Yes Mike

At one point I got to 83kg - for my height at 170cm I felt really terrible

So I did something about it to 68 kg ( which they reckon that’s about right) and that felt really terrible also

So I’ll stick with say 73-75 kg , at my age I think that’s about it

You’re all looking at this the wrong way, I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m too short for my weight. :joy:

Ha ha good one Iain

@Pete_the_painter writes “I’m currently 92ks and I want to get to 82ks, I’m 6’7.”

At 64 I was 180.34 CM (71 inches) and 104.326 (230 lbs). I was still working and was at this age when I had a triple by-pass open heart surgery. A year later I had a radical prostatectomy.

At 67 I was 180.34 CM (71 inches) and 90.72 Kg (200 lbs). I was still working at this point in time but still not watching my diet as close as I needed and work definitely interfered with exercise time/motivation.

At 70 I am 180.34 CM (71 inches) and 79.37 Kg (175 lbs). I have been retired now close to two years and the exercising has become a four times a week routine with daily walks. I did get down to 74.39 Kg (164 lbs) at one point and wife thought I was over doing the diet and exercises so have been modifying. My goal is to keep it between 170 to 175 lbs.

Making choices to cut way back on the sweets, majority of diet is vegetables with little meat and cut out alcohol. Priority is being around for family and keeping quality of life up as long as possible.

To many folks I know may have been around longer if they took care of themselves by making lifestyle changes. Following guidance of healthcare providers and thinking more about my wife, daughter and grandchildren, and the need to be available for them.

Life is sweet but also short and taking action to extend time.

Keep up the good work Pete!

Seakayaker I’m actually 1.64cm (5’38”), I’ve always thought and acted as if I was taller.

About 10 years ago my wife bought me a Ben Sherman Beatles limited edition shirt in Philly which I love. Unfortunately she go the wrong size and as they were all sold out couldn’t exchange. It also happened on a weekend where I was sitting on a bus stop with my eldest grandson and looking into my reflection in the shop window wondered who was the fat bastard looking back at me. Over the next 12 months through dieting and regular walks I’d gone from 98ks to 82. I promised myself I’d never let that happen again however of the last few years I’d slowly increased and found myself again hovering around 94ks. There were plenty of excuses, covid hip replacement, dog to old to walk and a knee reconstruction. But they were all just excuses the truth is I’d become lazy.

Now my target is again 82, according the the BMI I should be under 80 (76k) but frankly I don’t think it would be healthy. As I mentioned earlier even 85 people thought I was gravely ill.

I won’t stop until I can wear the shirt (comfortably) again. Cheers. :+1:

Springs a good time to start however the problem is there’s a short run up to Christmas, we all know what happens then.

I try to stick to a plan during the week and still enjoy myself on the weekends (in moderation of course). That way it doesn’t feel like you’re sacrificing too much.

Exactly. Mind over matter. Some shorter guys let it change their interaction with others and they really needn’t. Good on ya …

My mum seems to be a fighter she wasn’t expected to survive the stroke but she has. She lost the use of the right side of her body and unfortunately her independence. She now seems to have survived covid as well. Thank you for asking.

Voila, for those who doubt the benefits of an ASPH in an old building, here you go:

Left: electricity, Right: gas.

At the risk of regretting this what’s ASPH?
