Other than a pint of Castlemaine 4X, I assume.
You do know why they call it 4x?
Couldnāt give a XXXX, to be honest.
Donāt think itās made anymore, damn horrible stuff.
They named it 4x cause Queenslanders couldnāt spell beer.
Was that the old airport where it was like landing going down Oxford Street. Wing tips nearly touching the buildings.
Yepā¦ā¦.could not believe what was happening. Had a window seat over the wingā¦ā¦fly at a mountain, give a sharp bank at what seems the last momentā¦ā¦then nose dive in between a city skyscraper scene. Memorable stuffā¦ā¦you could slmost touch the buildingsš¬
That was a brilliant airport to land atā¦!
As you say, if you got a window seat it was brilliant ā literally could see people in their apartments as you passed through the tower blocksā¦.
I spent about 6months in HK once in the mid ā90s and it never ceased to fascinate me watching planes coming in to landā¦there was a spot in the harbour in the Island side, could follow them all the way inā¦
SC
Naughty - probably true though
Yes I remember that old airport S.C
First time I flew in I couldnāt believe I could see people hanging out their washing on their balconies
Tbh I donāt think Iāve ever drunk the stuff, it seems to be replaced with Great Northern which isnāt that great either.
I know, was crazyā¦!
I suspect, from a pilots perspective, it probably wasnāt all that dramatic excepting the visuals of it allā¦.I vaguely remember talking to some pilots at the time in a bar (yes, sounds made up but Iām not! Flight crews used to frequent the bars a lot on their turnaroundā¦.which was a worry thinking about it in hindsightā¦! ) and I seem to recall them saying it wasnāt anything too technicalā¦ā¦
They say Perth is a tricky oneā¦.Iām not sure if thatās cos itās often a hard landing and windyā¦.or if itās because itās Perthā¦!
Although Iām not really that enthusiastic about Hong Kong , the new airport is one of the most efficient Iāve passed through, in and out
Itās brilliant
Iāve landed at the new one, it was rather easy. Only problem was people whoād bought alcohol in Sydney had to dump it, lots of arguments over that.
I think a lot of beers, international annyway, are all brewed at the same places now by one or a few of the large brandsā¦.
Bought some cans of Asahi zero% the other day (Dry January, sighā¦) and on the label itās brewed by Peroni in Italyā¦!!
Thatās funny as the last Peroni I had was brewed here
Lolā¦
Must have been the 0%ā¦more chemicals available in EUā¦!
I havenāt been to the new oneā¦Actually havenāt been back to HK since the late ā90ās, which is a shameā¦ā¦though when I was there at the time, you could live like a king with a British passportā¦now, Iād be a pariahā¦!
Still to come to terms with a 0 beer
Yuck - not for me mate
