A monoblock-pair is just more practical. You dont need any expensive and cumbersome burndies and you can have the preamp near your seat and the amps with the speakers.
Plus it really is a true dual mono solution.
I am still standing by my 135s. The 300DR and the new classic 250 are good amps but not good enough for me to change (and yes, I have demoed them). But the Classics and the New Classics are designed to have another tone (vs. the olives) so this is not surprising in any way.
Going to demo of new classics at Audiobarn this Sat 10.30 session with Mark Raggett from Naim. If anybody else coming wear a red rose
Those two are not mutually exclusive
LoL
I also have 5.0.2.7936
System version as above and with Build 8827 and O/S v 5.0.2.1496
Others have O/S the same?
For sure they are both better than no boxersš¤£
Ha ha / true
Wot - going commando?
Most people would say putting the amp next to the speakers instead of tidily in the rack is the exact opposite of practical. Of course, a monoblock forces you to do neither so itās a moot point.
I donāt think it really matters. Two boxes is two boxes. To me, this discussion is really about the merits of six versus half a dozen.
Youāre welcome.
Indeed. Over the last twenty years or so weāve had NAP 250.2, NAP 250 DR, NAP 300 and NAP 300 DR. And now I feel itās time to move up to and embrace the better, stronger and faster New Classic NAP 250.
Letās embrace hopefully naim also do something out of this world with the Supernait 3 replacement if there will be one ??
Mind you probably some time away
There are some fantastic integratedās out there so time for naim to step up and go for it
I believe the SN3 was the very beginning of this new evolution in the Naim sound, indeed, if one goes by the magazine reviews on-lineā¦
Is it now the Six Million Dollar 250 ?
Have to admit that Iām curious as to what the New Classic Nait 6 (?) and Supernait 5 (?) incarnations are going to be like. If the Statement trickle down effect is to the fore, then they could be really something special.
Yes indeed YetiZone
The trickle down approach hopefully keeps going into the integratedās , shouldnāt just stop at the likes of the NC250
Sorry I donāt get it.
Agree, I really do hope the next generation Naits get the fully monty makeover when the time comes.
Iāve owned quite a few Naim pre / power combinations over the years, but I still find an integrated elegantly satisfying somehow, despite the obvious compromises.
