Can you get a mortgage at your age @Bevo?
Smart a**e
In a word - NO
And I don’t want one
Can’t see me jumping - I reckon cost me $35k as changeover
My ears aren’t good enough to get that SQ benefit
He’s got the cash.
Maybe - it’s whether I want to spend it yet again on audio gear or booze ha
I appreciate the point that the Uniti range are very capable music makers in their own right (I still have a UnitiQute2 and mighty fine it is too), and could potentially (and logically) replace the stand alone Naits, but I still think there will always be an enthusiastic market for accomplished integrated Naim amps, so end users are able to switch source components as they upgrade. There is little scope for that with the AIO boxes, much as I like and admire them.
Good review by Norwegian lyd&bilde: TEST: Naim New Classic NSC 222 og NAP 250 – Naim New Classic: Noe av det beste vi har hørt
Anything beyond the 250.3 is out of my budget… Here in the US even the new 300DR’s at a discount are 50% more than the 250.3 and used ones are few and far between.
The good news is the 252SC/250.3 is a fantastic end game for me.
…until the next wonderful thing comes along!
Only if I win the lottery…
I’m going to have a demo of the three new units on Saturday week. Just to see what all the fuss is about of course
Fuss I never noticed.
I posted a picture of my loaned units last month, so for completeness here is the purchased NC222 and 250 that are sounding just great. Portable guitar amp may move off top shelf allowing Naims to move up a shelf each, but I’m scared that will leave a hole for a third unit I cannot afford!
Also a pic of a poster I’ve had on my Lounge door for years, probably the subliminal reason I had to rejoin the Naim fold after 20 years😃
It tied in with a campaign to not be a sheep and follow the herd - instead go and listen to Naim.
I saw the 3 new NC units yesterday. I was interested to see how they looked, in reality - rather than photos - especially after the comments on here (somewhere) about the centre section being too shiny. Yes, its looks like Perspex (aka Plexiglass) - and is shiny. But looks fine… IMO…
Prices prevent any further consideration from me.
My NAP250 cost me ‘only’ £822, new - back in 1985 - and I still have it & use it.
Not a Sheep…
Of course, £822 in 1985 corresponds to roughly £2375 in today’s money…
What a wonderful time it was … in 1985
Nostalgia …
So… not £5,700 then…?
Nope!
