It is a bloody huge box which allows an awful lot of isolation between PSU and other stuff. It is not helpful to include its architecture in discussions on lesser systems.
From the looks of it, the speakers are too far apart IMO for my standards and assuming plenty of space from the side walls as the photo doesn’t show the side walls. Hence the reduced punch and dynamics.
I’m picking NZ$90K all up for a new 300 series system. $15K each for the pre, streamer and two power supplies, and $30K for a new two-box NC300. Less a bit of haggling.
That kind of money is hard to justify also is it just me that feels with the current financial hardship some are facing it seems a little wrong as well.
Indeed. Statement products are not one box at all. They are two box components literally bonded together by a perspex separator with power that exits one box and enters the other.
If you glued a 252’s feet to a SuperCap, it doesn’t make it one box preamp.
Even with a 552, I’m inclined to think the 252 DR is the sweet spot in the range for value for money. For you and Pete, the only change I’d be considering is a discounted 300 DR for your 252’s, even with them being discontinued.
Yep I think the new 300 amp will be around 25ks. Crazy money and we’re not even talking about the 500 stuff yet. One can only imagine what that’s going to be.
I understand some people want a super integrated however it’s never been for me. I’m too invested in this hobby to buy a product that has compromises. An integrated is a compromised unit as it would be sharing a power supply. Not only that but the design to separate the noisy power supply from the preamp circuits etc is pretty intense in the Statement.
Naim have built a unique brand. They have a philosophy that obviously has done things the right way otherwise we wouldn’t be here. Progression is important but I doubt Naim will throw away everything they’ve learned and implemented to follow other brands. Brands which I don’t think are anywhere near as successful.
