I’d wait to see what the new 300 level brings, but thats not what the OP asked. The 222 is a good starting point having the streamer, but as a pre to replace the current 282? I think I’d want to compare the 250-3 with the 250DR as a starting point.
I agree with you Ian
Source and preamp first up - amp comes later
Even our illustrious leader RD has mentioned this many times in various threads
How much longer?
15th May, Munich?
I thought it was the 14th but with time delay (they’re all yesterday) it’ll probably be the 15th for us.
Must be announcing it before the Munich show
From what I’m reading that commences on 18th
I could be wrong (it would be the first time though) but I thought I read there’s a press announcement on the 14th. I’m sure someone here will confirm.
14th is a Sunday Pete, so seems a bit unlikely.
So it will be presented in Munich?
Ah damn means I’m wrong
The Munich show organisers have already told everyone on their mailing list that, a couple of weeks ago.
Sorry I’m a bit slow and don’t follow so closely these sorts of things.
What ever, I’m looking forward to the next steps, but maybe I will get a 500DR in the end, or I will pick up a pre (un)loved 500 non DR
You can now get the Star , with that finish at a much reduced price. If I was in the market for a Star I would certainly have a look at one.
Thing about a Star is that it is highly unlikely to end up in a traditional rack .

I couldn’t agree more, especially a CD transport , stand alone phono stage , or shock horror mono power amps for either a dual mono system or a serious AV system
ps Hoping you are getting better and back ‘‘in the groove’’ (pun intended )
A tin one😂
Not in the market, the thing is , my plan is to move in a few years, with the aim of buying a decent quality flat. To incorporate a Star into my AV system would certainly reduce the box count.
Then a second headphone system for late night listening
I’ve got one of those:
(And a black Naim one as well)
Thank you. Its generally a good rule - but not absolute. A NAC552 with a NAP150 would probably be great but maybe not …? (I fully expect someone to post that they have done this and it was brilliant…!).
Its more of 282/200 rather than 202/250…
(My own progression was like this - 42/110 - 42/SNAPS/110 - 42/HiCap/250 - 72/HC/250 - 102/HC/250 - 82/HC/250. The one that didn’t work well was 102/250…)
I’ve done it, and yes it’s quite remarkably good when you consider it’s “just” a NAP150. Trying it the opposite way around - a NAP500 fronted by a NAC122x - was leaden and rather dull by comparison. I also have used one of my NAP110s with my 552 and, again, quite remarkable - the 110 is a little rhythm machine!
Lols… See… told you…!! (and I correctly predicted who this would be…!)
I have put my ‘spare’ 140 into my system (so with my 82/HiCap) - and it was fine.
What a shame that Naim no longer have any ‘baby’ NAP’s in production…
Instead of that, Ajax is melting down itself.
Positive news!
