Yes, possibly 90% of the dev on 222/300 was using the 250DR.
The 250DR was the main amp in the R&D listening room. The new 250 has now taken that role.
We have 500 and Statement in the big demonstration room

A year in R&D Product dev is like 2 weeks for you and me Time goes super fast and I cannot see they can work on everything in parallell. There must be some priorities and we donāt know which products move more according to plans and which are more off What Iām sure about is thereās not much rest at naim these days
NoNaim there are some very interesting and positive posts on this thread paralleling Naimās new product launch.
This is without doubt one post, on your significant and positive news, that many of us will be very pleased to read. I wish you and your family, best wishes for a healthy and happy life going forward, aided in small measure by your new boxes, hopefully providing endless enjoyment.
Stay safe and healthy, best for 2023 and on.
@110dB liked my post about the 500 not being replaced for the foreseeable future.
So either heās a good poker player or itās really 3 years off minimum.
My guess is they havenāt even started yet, with all efforts focused on the new 200 & 300 seriesā¦
Thatās great news I went through cancer with chemo, surgery and the whole shabang 2016 and was cleared 2021. Thank god for research and development and everyone giving money to support it continuously. It saved me and many others
I guess the definition of this needs clarification
Thatās good news. Iāve put a deposit on the 500DR and then Iām likely at my end game system. Itās all bound to be upgraded at some point but Iāll probably be retired by then.
Hi Stu, probably the latter. I believe particularly the 500DR is a tricky one to improve upon with its rather unique internal design. ATB Peter
PS. From what Iāve heard the 552 would lend itself to a replacement before the 500 in my humble view
Well our new (original seems to have gone on a walkabout within DPD) New Classic NAP 250 was delivered today
I do like the message from Naim Audio which is printed on the inside of the new Classic Series packaging -
Btw, as I write this New Classic NAP 250 and Sopra 2ās are sounding sublime
Exciting
Ooh the letters D And R make me feel restless
OOPS forgot sorry ATB Peter
2-3 years minimum surely
Just auditioned the 3 new boxes, friend ordered the NAP250. They sound fabulous.
Thank you for those kind words. May I also return my best wishes to you and your family
All I can say is, it has been a journey. However, it is as the song goes, a long and winding road
Now that naim are embracing balanced outās on the streamer/pre, i wonder if that will extend to balanced inputs on any future preamps.
I see the mounting of the transformer has changed with the new series. Does this help reduce the noise from the transformer when the mains has D.C. offsets on the signal. Has there been any updates in terms of filters there?
That is good to know as I will be using my 222/300 with a 250DR initially.
And thank you for all your contributions to this thread.
The question was exactly if it can be a transition. Thanks Steve
