More like blatant marketing to me
I’m not a fan of “I know special secrets and I ain’t telling them” posts on forums generally.
I’m less of a fan of “I know special secrets and they are only for my customers” posts from dealers. In fact this is the first of those I recall reading here in 10 years.
The comment was perhaps an unfortunate turn of phrase, but was subsequently qualified thus; “unlocking and realising the potential which lies within the NAP 250” and “no magic, just applying some experience”. This is something I would expect any dealer worth their salt to be able to offer, so I the give the benefit of any doubt here.
The NC250 is very good, I was thoroughly impressed when I heard one at the dealers but for £5700 you can almost buy a used none DR 500 and this amp is in a completely different class to any 250, 300etc, just saying…
A Nap 500 non DR needs probably servicing soon, just saying…
Perhaps his enthusiasm is interpreted as a marketing ploy and just turns off members. Perhaps it’s magic or lifetime experience or just the use of a third party cable or other product that is the secret sauce to get the best sound.
Members do like to discuss what works for them on the forum and someone withholding the information just goes against the spirit of the forum. So can be interpreted as a slight, or not so slight, irritation to members who then express themselves.
Whatever… No body died and live goes on.
The posts made by the dealer in question come across like they are the sole purveyor of Naim snake oil. The inference is clear that if you want to know the secret then you need to spend your hard earned’ with them and them only. It certainly puts me off patronising their establishment, despite living in their catchment area. I suspect I’m not alone in that.
You can get a 2018 500DR for just a little more than the incoming monoblocs.
Now THAT is an audition/comparison I could look forward to!
Agreed. I occasionally find myself succumbing to the social media trap of concerning myself with trivial matters. I should prioritise listening to more music instead.
£1800 for a NAP500 service then another 15 years on the clock, most people spend more on swanky cables
Not long to wait
In answer to all the @Musicraft comments….
Opinions, are like bottoms,
Everyone has got one……
But some are larger……
You’re welcome. An effectively aligned, calibrated and dialled in AV system incorporating a product such as the New Classic NAP 250 is simply awesome. Frightening to think just good an AV system will be with multiple New Classic NAP 350’s
I stand to be corrected however as far as I recall I said something similar once earlier in the year and the part about clients is the first time.
Spot on
The New Classic NAP 250 is a revealing amp.
Movies are a sterner test than music. In comparison music is a walk in the park. Even with the most arduous of listening levels the New Classic NAP 250 handles movies with aplomb
I’ll respectfully suggest that you broaden your horizon and take a look at the AV/movie industry. The level these guys are operating at is mind blowing.
Not now because its discontinued but we did have NAP 300 DR available when the New Classic NAP 250 came through on 04/01/23.
