Yeah, had to venture out into the jungle of the interwebs. We’ll see how it goes. lol
As mentioned on a different thread, I have a very similar setup and planning too to replace my 272 by the 222, keeping for now the 555PS and 300DR. So far, you’re the first person on these threads that seems to be doing this. Let us know your verdict!
It’s interesting that over the NC threads a number of people have commented that when new, the NC250 is brighter/leaner sounding vs the 250DR. After some time this appears to smoothen out/fill up. This is interesting as when I swapped from my 250DR to a new 300DR, I didn’t notice any brightness from new, sounded great from the get go. When people have been posting about how the 250NC sounds my initial thought was a more transparent 200. When I swapped from 200 to 250DR, the 250DR offered numerous improvements, including a fuller sound but this fuller sound did seem to make things a bit sluggish in comparison.
Hello,
I read too the article after buying this issue.
I think they passed the most important point.
I mean the NC is first of all back to PRAT!
If Naim added some details or increase the soundstage, why not!
But in my opinion, it’s not the relevant thing they should notice.
So I’m not convinced by this article and ask me if they listen one time to older boxes (CB or olive).
Be careful by handling this review.

Poor classics, we’ve all been had. Who would have thought, all us numpties buying classic and it had no PRAT.
Sad.
The Ear article about the NC untitled « Naim New Classic and the Rythme Divine » will certainly give to you a better understanding of my opinion.

Stop it mate - what a wind up merchant you are
Yup. Now we have SN3 that isn’t so super & has no PRaT and XPS DR that brings hardly anything…
Looks as though the whole classic range should never have come to market !!!
Soooo disappointed with mine…
We really need to start another Category for people who are offended at other peoples opinions.
Or maybe a new thread “Offended by other people thoughts on the New Classic Range”
Nah…unlike some threads, I hope this is all with good-humour and intent; I’m certainly not coming from an offended standpoint at all, which would be silly.
Neither am I steviebee
Just having a laugh
I’ve had my Nait 2 through the years of having the Classic main sound, and playing it (on and off) as a sort of reference and when I’ve felt like I am missing its lifelike tactility, pace and engagement. I think some simply call this “the boogie”?
With the Atom HE and now the NSC222 going into a like-minded low/mid power, good current and highly transparent power amp as my Nytech, I’ve finally decided to let the Nait 2 go.
Don’t do it!
Have to admit - letting my Nait2 go has been crossing my mind too.
The Nytech CA352 convinced me to let my CB Nait 2 go. The new Nait 50 is doing a very good job replacing the Nytech (swings and roundabouts).
Would you paste your favourite quotation from that article into this thread please?
I would have kept it but just felt so bad putting it in a dark sad box sitting unused for a long time, thought it deserves to play somewhere for someone, not so many of these special amps around:)
For me (in audition only) it was slightly smoother and softer (may be the preamp?) while the 402 power amp feels quite direct and crisp (and with more energy).
I don’t have the setup for it now but I am sure one day soon the curiosity will get the better of me to also hear the Nait 50!
