They are yes. The 8-day had had to retouching (shows up under UV light) but the 30-hour is untouched. The 30-hour generally keeps better time than my Seiko Kinetic. ![]()
Still have a tin of that stuff in the shed.
Asbestos was a wonderful material, could still be used if H&S was sensible rather than often ridiculous. (not to say I think H&S was a bad thing, but sometimes where is the sense in some of it).
Well painted in the first place I guess.
The tic-toc of a long case is quite something in the middle of the night, not that my wife agrees. Even the smaller and quieter mantle time pieces are disliked.
Our long case is later, 1800’s I think.
I have a soup ladle with the same handle. ![]()
Siemens fridge freezer, 28 years and still going, probably not exactly A rated at this stage but I haven’t got the heart to replace it.
Same here. Her sewing machine is from Woolworths, purchased >50 years ago ![]()
Warmflow?
Willy.
I’ve just thought of my Dad’s 1946 watch which I sometimes wear. Bit of a cheat?
My father’s third wife’s father’s butcher’s knives. Approaching 100 years old.
Not really. Good for it to be in use too.
Not sure Willy.
It’s a big red box which looks a bit the worse for wear - there is a RIELLO badge on it - not sure if that is a make or model.

Oh well now, I do have a wall clock which allegedly came from a Scottish mansion dating back to the 1800’s - need to get it serviced though.

I still have the Royce watch that my father wore throughout his RAF service in WWII. Light research indicates that it was probably manufactured in the 1920s. It still works fine. I wear it occasionally to keep it ticking over (No pun intended)
Riello is an Italian manufacturer, they make burners which are used in some oil fired boilers. They made the burner in our Grant boiler. Coincidentally , they also made the air source heat pump that replaced it.
I wonder if Trigger still has his broom?![]()
Our 1987 Amana Radarange is still going strong.. if a little loud. I guess it belongs to the category of Too Big to Fail.. We use it almost every day.
That’s just reminded me, my 1989 Panasonic microwave continues to work well everyday. It’s on my list of things to ‘decommission’, along with the Philips electric hob that was installed when the house was new with its Philips double electric oven sibling that conked out about a year ago, and that oven was heavy, with the help of the electrician (who disconnected it) …we carried it out and placed it carefully in the back of my car, and on a rainy day just a couple of months ago took it to the ‘recycling centre’ where it rested in a big skip for the final journey.
Warmflow, based in Lisburn, used the Riello burners on their boilers. They have a reputation as being long-lived. Ours dates from around 1998.
Willy.
I left hifi out of it as not machine or appliance, but as I sit writing this I am listening through my old IMF RSPM speakers (now in my brother-in-law’s house), circa 1970, still sounding wonderful. Amp is same as mine, Musical Fidelity A370-2, circa 1990. His TT Linn Sondek LP12/Ittock circa 1985, though listening to a much younger and better sounding Moon CD player.
