I remember them well from doing some spring hiking in New Hampshire and Vermont many years ago and this city boy did not like them one bit.
We went on a lovely local walk today, and on the way back into Emsworth we spotted these cygnets with their parents. Hopefully at least some will make it to adulthood. The wall on the right is the edge of a pub garden, which can get lively on a Friday night. In the top right are the balconies of two £2m houses, which directly overlook the pub garden. A strange juxtaposition.
Unlike the more interesting stuff reported in this thread , did boring household stuff:
Bit more painting and “polyfiller-ing” in Bedroom 2
Watered the chilli plants in the greenhouse and dug up some weeds in the back garden.
Researched battery powered lawnmowers - due to our twenty year old Bosch catching fire half way though doing the back lawn - “No-Mow May” for us then
Researched Curtain pole and curtains for Bedroom 2.
Watched “Springwatch” on the Beeb.
It really is “all go” down 'ere in OAP country, aka 'Ampshire
Gave blood for the first today. Apparently there’s a shortage of blood products here. Reasonably painless and stress free I’ll be doing it again.
Travelled along the A303 both ways over the last couple of days. If anyone’s due to go that way soon, be warned the Sparkford area (where the roundabouts start going west) is like a new Stonhenge area. Expect long queues – and don’t trust BBC Radio Somerset’s traffic news announcements.
Had a family get together. We kind of glamped (no mini fridge for the refreshments and a walk to the loo and showers!). The bell tent was large and air was fresh. Daughter brought their caravan and we all ate together.
Photos of Studland beach further away from Knoll car park so the dogs could have fun on long leads, Swanage Railway and Corfe Castle.
Super weekend.
