Tidal completely down for me - plays 3 seconds and stops. Then picks up again after 15 seconds of ‘buffering’. Completely unlistenable. Anyone experiencing the same? Spotify and iRadio are fine - just Tidal is the problem
No issues here
Maybe you’ve somehow been logged out of it. Have you tried re-logging in again?
Now it’s fine. Felt like a bandwidth issue. But more concerning was that it was an album that was only in ‘Max’ (hi-res) and I started to panic that my UQ2 had lost the ability downsample and was useless. An unfortunate and unnecessary late-nite audio panic attack.
fine in germany and uk

Thanks. I’m good now. There’s another member having a similar issue, but could be more of a software thing with his Atom ![]()
This is worth a look too, hopefully your issue won’t persist. I’m having continued issues with Tidal in Thailand.

I had problems with Tidal Sunday evening in Germany, but all ok since than.
Back to the same last night and tonight. Plays for 5 seconds, buffers for 10 seconds, and then plays for another 5 seconds.
Only happens in the evening. Think it’s on their side, or mine?
Edit: on my UQ2
Edit2: no issues w Spotify connect or radio
Quick update on this one. Streaming this morning the same tracks from last night and everything fine. When I run a speed check in the evening, I’m getting 200mbps+. So it can’t be lack of bandwidth on my side.
Is there anything related to number of people streaming / loads that could be causing the issue? It’s getting extremely frustrating.
Lack of bandwidth is rarely a problem for music streaming - you would need to have speeds in single figures for this to be an issue. It’s usually down to latency between your device and whichever server Tidal happens to be using at the time. How heavy internet use at peak times affects latency I wouldn’t know - maybe one for @Simon-in-Suffolk ?
As I understand it, the streamer doesn’t downsample. I believe the Tidal server recognises a device that doesn’t support a 24 bit stream and automatically sends it 16/44.1 instead.
See Simon’s post about regional capacity / CDNs above that I reposted from another thread. I continue to have issues in the evening as the number of Tidal users goes up.
FYI I ruled out another issue/fix today by selecting IPv4 only in network settings for my NDX2 and the stuttering and freezing immediately got worse.
As @ChrisSU these days with modern broadband accesses its unlikey to be bandwidth…
Now latency can be an issue but again if you are FTTC and FTTH that is unlikely to be a significant issue.
So I would suspect your home network or streamer.. However it might be worth streaming the same content on your smart phone when connected directly to a 4G or 5G network and see if that stutters in a similar way for the same track. If so that more points to a streaming service issue or a regional CDN loading issue.
Have you looked at the diagnostic screens on your device web portal (assuming the UQ2 has that ) and see if anything goes red when you are stuttering.
I would also check that you have proper ipv6 enabled on your router, and you at revert back to your ISP router for a while if you are not using it to see if things improve. Check your UQ2 has IPV6 active. (assuming the UQ2 supports it). Increasingly using ipv4 can cause throughput or latency challenges on CDNs (what streaming companies use to provide content across the globe) from what I see.
Your smart mobile almost certainly will be using Ipv6 - such as with EE.
Good stuff Simon, thanks. Will look at the UQ setting and try the 5G streaming tonight. Right now, no issues at noon CET.
when you post the comparison with your smartphone test connected to 4G/5G (not wifi) - can you advise of your ISP as well please - and what broadband method you use.
Had the same issue in Paris two evenings ago !
And I was listening Tidal through a Nad C700 !
Ok, we had some friends drop in last nigh so I wasn’t able to run all the diagnostics. But here’s another point to put in the proverbial pipe:
Was playing Tidal via the Sonos app on my Sonos Move last night between 7:30 -8:30ish. Once album stopped and I switched to another. Lo and behold, the same thing happened. Stuttering streaming vis Sonos. Switched over to Spotify and no issues.
Clearly this is a Tidal issue as I’m still getting 200mpbs all around the house and outside and there’s no lagging on any other device (Apple TV, computers, streaming Apple Music, etc.)
But I’ll try and look at the diagnostics again tonight.
Oh, and I’ve got fibre broadband (FTTC) - copper to the house, and run Netgear Orbi mesh router/satellites throughout.
I’ve complained to Tidal and asked for a refund, otherwise I will cancel. They replied with instructions on how to cancel. Says it all… well almost. Putting poor customer service aside, someone at Tidal surely must be looking at the geographical markets in which they are experiencing these issues. Please do make sure you complain and report the issue to Tidal, noting all your findings.
Same here. Qobuz also working fine.
