Tidal missing as an input on Atom?

Morning, I’m completely new to the world of “proper hi-fi” having lived with Sonos for years. I have recently bought an Atom (refurbished from Naim) and focal vesia 2 speakers. Things are going reasonably well so far, music is a world away from where it has been previously! However; I’m struggling a bit with Tidal. I know there are similar topics but I have not been able to find any covering the same issue.

Initially, I only had the option to play music from the Tidal app by connecting via airplay or BT, there was no “Tidal Connect” option when I clicked the icon in the Tidal app. I followed some of the advice on this forum to the point where I ended up with a forced factory reset. I can now play via the connect option through the app but I can’t see Tidal in the list of inputs on the Naim app or the unit itself. I think I’m right in saying that it should be there having seen some screen shots that others have shared on this forum. I’m up to date with firmware etc, the only thing I’ve not done is said “yes” to the music server option in the setup, mainly because I wasn’t sure what it was.

Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks, Tom

Go into settings and make sure the tidal input is set to active.

The server option is to allow the atom to serve music and make it available to other units across the network. Eg attach a hard drive full of music files to the atom, enable server, now a muso in another room can play music from that hard drive.

Just want to confirm you’re looking in the right place in the app. You can find Tidal under ‘Settings’/‘Services & Accounts’. It isn’t under ‘Input Settings’

Thank you for your replies. Entilzha, it is listed under settings, services and accounts and it is set to active but it’s not one of the inputs listed under input settings which I think mirrors what you can see on the unit itself. I expected to be able to have a tile for Tidal in the same way that it seems to come with a default tile for Spotify.

This is the screen shot someone has shared elsewhere on the forum which I think shows Tidal under input settings along with USB, HDMA, source 1, Spotify etc…again, these are the things that seem to be mirrored on the home screen of the unit itself.

What you see in the app depends on your component; eg this is an ndx2

Tidal, Spotify and Qobuz should not show under input settings and do not need to. They should only appear under services and accounts.

The fact that they can also appear under input settings is a software glitch, which will be remedied in due course.

The idea is that things you pay for should all be under services and accounts. This is where any subscription radio channels will ultimately be shown.

I think it moved fairly recently from ‘input settings’ to a dedicated ‘services and accounts’ section.
My Atom HE doesn’t show the settings from your picture. If I clock on Tidal in the ‘services and accounts’ section I see the following settings:

  • Enabled (toggle)
  • Quality
  • Logout (or login if not)
  • Open Tidal App

I can then see it on the home screen. You may have to swipe the inputs on the home screen. You can reorder them in settings/app settings/sources layout

Thank you, I hadn’t realised that!

That screenshot is of an older version of the app, which predated the addition of the Services & Accounts section from which Tidal is now enabled and configured.

Thank you, I’m in the office now so I can’t test this but I will definitely give it a go as soon as I get back. So to be clear, you can see Tidal on your home screen on the atom itself?

You won’t see either Tidal or Qobuz on the Home Screen. It doesn’t matter because you need the app to control Tidal.

Spotify is “special”; I believe it was a requirement of theirs that if Naim added integration, they also had to show the logo on the screen.

As others have said, it won’t appear in the list when you press the input button on the Atom. If you play Tidal via the app (or tidal connect), the Atom will automatically play it regardless of the current input selected on the front panel.

OK, thank you everybody, it sounds like my Atom is working the way it should be! Have a good weekend.
