Totally agree with your comment, from a fellow 222 and 300 owner.
I think you will be very happy with your purchase.
Nothing will beat a 52/supercap so staying put.
Or keep your 250DR and instead get the NP300?
Wow
All options are possible. Swapping the 272 is probably a cert but whether I replace one or both other boxes depends on the numbers I think.
All or nothing, go for it!
you can’t say that it exceeds its position in the porfilio until you hear the rest of the portfolio can you? This is clearly the start of a new direction of travel with the remainder of the kit to be revealed over time, and much of the existing classic range now or about to be discontinued it would appear. I would fully expect the new kit to blow all the ‘comparable’ existing classic kit completely out of the water. The new 250 NAP seems a staggeringly good piece of kit, and easily comparible to the outgoing 300DR to my ears. Trickle down tech at cheaper and cheaper price points is common place these days. I fully expect it to be relevent in Hi-Fi, and in Naims approach. This can only be good for the consumer. I think everything new coming through will offer a significant step from the old. Just look at a mid-range Porsche now, it’s easily competing with a top of the range car from 15 years ago.
I’ve just taken the plunge and ordered the 222 and 250. I loved it.
I see you have a Cdx2 / 282/hicap dr /250 dr. When were they serviced ?
Have you compared at home your system vs 222/ 300 ps/ 250?
I am curious.
I have a 222 at home at the moment (no Power Supply). Sounds very different to the 282 so hard to assign it a level in comparison. I find it really fun to listen to, a bit smoother and maybe less detailed in low frequencies and when the mix is busy.
The solstice sounds really good through it as well, to the point that I suspect the digital side is the weaker of the 2 sections and the pre is the stronger.
On its own I would guess it is a little below the 282 with hicap but I have only had a couple of hours listening.
Sorry my profile was out of date. I moved away from my previous system in 2020. New family (second marriage), smaller house (our first home together) and a hifi system that wasn’t being used as people were to frightened to go near it. So i traded all but the TT and the speakers for a Nova and a core and it’s been great, despite the small drop off in real world performance. The ‘lifestyle’ nature of the system and eveyone in the house being able to control it from the app has been a revolation. The same functionality in the new classic kit means i can upgrade the SQ and the family will still be happy to use it. win-win for me,
Surely best to wait and see what comes next, after the 222.
I would like that someone opens a thread called « 250 dr vs new 250 ». I will try to ask for a shoot out at my dealer place, during my next holidays.
If the dealer has to swap from the 250 dr to the 250 into the 222 , the cable can be the same or the dealer needs two different cables ?
Switching requires different cables. The NC250 has two XLR inputs and the 250DR only has one.
Quite true, and also, if I understand it, the new inputs are balanced so are different from the current 300 / 500 twin XLR inputs.
2 in to 1 (so degrading)
Ok so Music matters AKA “my Richard” ensures me my new 3 box 200 will be in my home singing Naims best songs for me by close of play tomorrow … my question is what should be my first track and or playlist I should play ?and …remember don’t pick fights! life is up and down enjoy the good times. embrace the future and let the past be memorable change is good … listening to Joni both side’s
Enjoy! Ordered mine through MM also. Got to wait 4-6 weeks!
I dont agree so much. I have a sn3 ndx2 which costs less and is on par with the new classic soundwise with upgrade path.
All this reminds of Derek and his “What would win between a shark and a crocodile if both had a gun and a knife but the shark’s knife was a bit smaller?”
