Yes, I love him. If he had only been more picky with choosing his friends.

Excellent biography, full with beautiful photos.

I’m not a great Sinatra fan but agree “Wee Small Hours” is an outstanding album and one of my top 1o vocal jazz albums. I suggest another is" Ella Fitzgerald sings the George and Ira Gershwin Songbook" recorded by Norman Granz on his Verve label.

Another that belongs on the list imo is the Tony Bennet/Bill Evans album from the mid 70’s.

Yes to all three of those! That Ella album was my first of hers that I owned in college. And I listened to the Tony Bennett / Bill Evans album just recently on the day Tony Bennett died. It seemed appropriate. “Some Other Time” left me a little misty-eyed under the circumstances. Legendary album.

Agreed, Bill Evans/Tony Bennett is a gorgeous album. Bennett with Diana Krall is also a favorite of mine.

All time favourite, the wonderful vocals of Eddie Jefferson singing New York Afternoon. Catch it on Richie Cole’s Keeper of the Flame album.

Also take a listen to Shaker Song on the Manhattan Transfer Extensions album.
