Whilst I expect TP to win, it will be interesting to see how much of a fight JV puts up as he takes the second step on the podium. As for the rest of the top 10, I have little idea who will fill the remaining spaces.
The Team Time trial around one of my favourite places will be interesting to see who prevails, but mostly I will be trying to spot the bars, etc my brother has taken me to over the years.
I’d just about started getting used to not having a team time trial in the Grand Tours and along comes one this year TdF Stage 1.
I always feel sorry for the (light-weight climber) teams who lack the necessary engine firepower, and although the event is an odd sort of spectacle, it does look oddly peculiar too.
Anyway, Lidl-Trek are sporting Juan Ayuso as their no.1, and he comes from Barcelona so will be well chuffed.

S4C has announced that it has secured the rights to broadcast this year’s Tour de France, and the live-stream will also be available on BBC iPlayer, S4C will only broadcast select stages live, including stages 1, 2, 3, 19, 20 and 21. Stage 18 will also be covered exclusively on S4C Clic, BBC iPlayer and S4C Chwaraeon’s YouTube channel.
In December 2014, S4C became available on the BBC iPlayer website, both live and on demand, initially as part of an 18-month trial. This partnership was extended in 2026.
