Traceability serial number removed from website

We have previously discussed Naim’s new website and now the ability to quickly and easily look up serial numbers has been removed. One can really wonder why

It’s really poor of Naim to remove this from their website IMO. I often found it useful to find out how old a piece of kit was.

Fortunately, the Wayback Machine website still has a cache of this page showing serials up to 2022.

OMFG. What a disaster. The world has ended.

So do you think it’s a step in the right direction HH?

@Richard.Dane - Please could you ask Naim about this…?

Is it a temporary thing - or a permanent change…?

Seems A Definite Step Backwards. Not Good.

Class A Audio in Sheffield has a list of Serial numbers and years on their website.

Agreed and not only that, it provided a complete historical view of all products Naim ever manufactures. That alone was of interest in itself imo.

It’s a very bad news.
Maybe a serial dashboard could be posted in the FAQ ? It will be more difficult now to buy or sell Naim .

Last I heard when I was down at the factory was that Naim had a whole bunch of recommended changes and improvements for the website that they had put together for the digital marketing team in France to implement. At a guess I’d say that the resource for the serial numbers will re-appear once everything has been revised and updated. However, in the meantime, I would suggest an email got Naim support with any serial number query you may have.

And that’s exactly what it says on the website. It’s hardly a big issue.

I know, but people do like to moan about anything any everything.

For context the complete quote is “Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, but the highest form of intelligence.”

It took me two minutes to read this thread and another two minutes to write an e-mail to Naim. It then took Naim little over an hour to reply with the exact manufacturing date (it was actually a Friday - do I need to worry now?).
Sometimes comlaints are simply ridiculous. Plus the serial number thing on the website was not really precise, was it? It gave spans if I rememer well, rather than exact dates.

Thank you, Richard.

Good Answer.

If you have been following the forum, you know as well as I do that the criticism of Naim’s new website has been extensive and well substantiated as it contains many errors and shortcomings compared to the old website. Whether you want to call it whining is up to you…

Well Said.

There is a facility on this Forum to Ignore and/or Mute individual, selected Users.

I find this useful… :expressionless:

I didn’t call it whining, I called it moaning. The example given by @segelmatt demonstrates that it’s hardly an issue.

I once muted people but now I see the forum in all its glory. It’s fun to see who knows when to use capital letters and who doesn’t.

While it may be logical for all the changes which were highlighted as needing to be addressed, to be all done concurrently, it has nevertheless taken quite a while, meantime much of what forum peps suggested, have yet to be addressed.
Imho it has caused some peps, to wonder exactly why this has occurred.

Iirc I was one of the first to highlight the fact that serial numbers hadn’t even been updated when the updated, certainly not improved, website was launched.

Appreciate @Richard.Dane 's update - a simple timescale as to when this is all going to happen, would perhaps be appropriate, after all the effort peps here on the forum put, into making sensible suggestions for corrections.
Left to the french, there is a french term, very similar to a house of ill repute which might describe the current status; best to just queue a Gaelic shrug with a “nous ne savons pas” !!
