I thought it was very funny. Well and warmly received.
Google gives me a lot of different meanings, from not kind to insulting.
Being retired, one needn’t hide as well as they used to…
My only conclusion from all these threads is that my hearing must be a lot worse than everyone else…I have tried cheap to very expensive ethernet cables through to what I now use - the NDX2 WiFi antennas - and I cannot hear any difference whatsoever. I do enjoy reading all the heated debates mind you
Changed from expensive Chord streaming cables to CatSnake Ethernet, no reduction in sound quality.

Getting back on topic, I read on another post that a member has removed their ADOT system following the recent Naim firmware update.
Has anyone else done this and found an improvement in doing so?
DG…
Yes that would be interesting. Many of these after market tweaks are about noise shaping. This new software release arguably has reshaped the noise profile. So it stands to reason how the two lots of ‘noise shaping’ could unbalance or disproportionately affect the sonic profile of a system.
This is exactly how I have experienced it. I spent the evening listening to music without the Adot and a basic melco cable and musically it’s the best I have heard. The instinct is to feel cheated but the results speak for themselves! It is warmer and you do get a larger soundscape so moving the speakers slightly is crucial. I realised last night when using the cinnamon cable it becomes hifi but the mix changes also so it sounds incorrect! Back to the melco sounds at first rough around the edges but then you realise it’s more natural sounding! The Adot and cinnamon make it cleaner but also compressed, without it I can turn the volume up without fatigue. So a basic system with this fw seems to be the answer in my system! Of course if they change it again ….
Any ideas why my app is not responding on play and pause? Same on streamer and muso? Re set it all up and already re booted broadband. I assume an iOS 18.1 problem.
Cancel the app and install it again. You can also restart your iPad or phone.
Yep tried that lol I think it’s from updating my iOS again
no idea - I see no such issue - but I am using iOS 18.01

You are certainly raising an interesting point here. This is why I’ve argued for using an Ethernet cable with good geometry and materials such as the Neotech Neet-1008 that measures well and doesn’t hinder noise, leaving that job to electronics.
It is still a boutique cable, whichever way you describe it.
The moot point is, that all the engineering would have been done with bog standard Ethernet cables, ergo, not allowing a boutique cable to sway the sound.
This Forum is fully aware that you are proud supporter of this cable.
DG…
You are missing the point here. Bog standard Ethernet cables aren’t good enough. This is not about swaying the sound it’s about a cable that gets out of the way in being constructed to let the signal pass through from one end to the other disrupting it as minimally as it can. But I’m guessing you will keep your position and be set on the notion I’m somehow pushing this cable on people.
I don’t care about what cables or electronics people are using. I’m discussing the rationale behind choices here.
The point is the fallout from the Naim recent firmware update, not whether expensive cables make a difference.
Both Naim and Linn only use standard Cat 5e cables with their kit.
DG…
They do as a Company but if you talk to individuals who work at Naim they themselves use boutique cables, so not that simple.
I think Cat 5e, 6, 6a, 7 or 8 are all fine, they all meet 10GBASE-T requirements, and I think it is mainly about how the individual shielding around each wire pair is constructed to minimize electromagnetic interference, to reduce crosstalk between cables to prevent signal distortion.
There’s no more rational than saying a Blue Jeans certified cheap cable or expensive Sigma will disrupt or not, as you say, the signal.
