As the other amp isn’t a Naim do you have DIN (CD player) to RCA (amp) interconnect (proven working by swapping input channels) … so that the player can be eliminated as an issue?
Instinct suggests a dodgy connecting wire somewere in the chain, but let’s see.
Here is my intermediate update
Test 1: Left Speaker on Right Channel
-
Power off the amplifier.
-
Disconnect the right speaker from the right channel.
-
Connect the left speaker to the right channel output .
-
Power on the amplifier and play audio.
-
left speaker worked and sounded fabulous
I then did a second test
Test 2: Right Speaker on Left Channel
-
Power off the amplifier.
-
Disconnect the left speaker from the left channel.
-
Connect the right speaker to the left channel output .
-
Power on the amplifier and play audio.
-
Zero sound from the right speaker
Speaker output socket has come loose from the circuit board inside the amplifier? Quite a common problem with the 90 if incorrect banana plugs have been used in place of the SA8s?
Hmmm. Interesting, but also very sad! I guess that sounds like I need a Naim specialist to fix that , which I guess will be like hens teeth in rural Australia!
If it is the speaker socket that has a dry solder joint to the main board then it should be fairly straightforward to fix it provided you can find someone who’s good at soldering.
We opened up the nap 90 and the board has burnt out.
Thank you to everyone for your help and guidance.
