Does anyone know with certainty, the polarity position of the CMOS battery in an HDX, so that one can reset a machine? Does the POSITIVE (SHINY SIDE), face the circuit board, parallel to the holder, or does the Posite (+) side, face the power supply side, inner bay? I removed the old, without recalling the right position. When I went into BIOS Page, I reset the clock, was able to see my drives, and OS, but couldn’t get to the section of tabs, for PERIFERAL management. This lead me to believe my battery replacement was not holding the correct time, which I had updated the date, within the first Bios page. Unfortunately, with my rig of a power VGA to HDMI adapter, plus a plugged in PS-2 keyboard working, prior, now i am literally in the dark. The PS-2 keyboard isn’t recognized, and what I saw of The Award Wining Bios, prior, no longer is visible, through the adapter. I know, I made a user error, in exiting the Bios screen, but I did NOT brick my machine. I must determine which direction the battery should be inserted. (If there is any writing etched on coin slot…WAY too small, and a very difficult place to read!( Thanks ( iam hoping the high rate of fan speed, was caused by battery failure, which brought upon with it, other issues, like the fan. When I was in the bios menu, I was able to see the NAIM Logo, change to looking for network. I think the Bios order is mixed up, hence not fully starting, although I can hear the drive click.

The positive side of the battery goes towards the PCI card slot (as in the picture above).
There are certain parts of the BIOS menu system that are locked down, so not being able to select some parts is normal.
To reset the BIOS, there is a small (red?) jumper next to the battery holder alongside the PCI slot. Move the jumper one pin along onto the unused pin. Then move it back to its current position.
Alternatively, just leave the battery out for 10 minutes.
Once you have set the time/date, you need to select Restore Naim Defaults & confirm.

EXCELLENT, thank you very much Neil! ( That was my photo, with my fat fingers, but for some reason, but typically, as the internet does get somethings wrong 90% of the ‘peanut gallery” stated the Positive side was towards the Power Supply, so out. i’ll just leave the battery out for 10+ minutes, as I am always nervous, moving around in tight places, were there are delicate welds/solder joints. Hopefully I get this lovely machine back up to its former glory. Thanks again,

Neil beat me to it, which is just as well, as I’ve never had to replace the bios battery in my Unitiserve so I wouldn’t know.
