I recall there’s a logic sequence which locks/unlocks the record functions. To switch this to unlock I think you need to select ‘record’ on the remote, then press ‘mono’ on the remote four times in less than six seconds.
I did listening tests on both the 82 and 52 with the end result being the same. Mute of record circuit and the record input set to the furthest away from the inputs being used and definitely not the same as the input. Mute makes the biggest difference and the record input the lesser.
