I have dismantled my NAC 282 and Supercap DR and am in the process of boxing them up. I appear to have two 5 pin SNAICS left over!
I have just looked at, "Accessories packed with Naim Equipment, by: Steven Hopkins on 14 August 2009", and it appears that neither of the above components come with SNAICS. Is this correct?
I donāt ever remember buying any? Am I having yet another senior moment?
Clearly you picked them up from somewhere, or you wouldnāt be able to use the SC with the 282. They cost about Ā£200 new these days and there is a ready market on eBay.
Looking back through some old posts, you did used to have a Hicap DR. Perhaps the SNAIC5 that originally came with that Hicap remained when you changed to the Supercap (and bought an additional SNAIC5 in the process).
Still, as HH mentions, itās easy to sell on your spare SNAICs.
Than you @HungryHalibut
I know for a fact that I didnāt purchase them. Iāve a sneaky feeling that my dealership may have thrown them in as a āThank youā.
Ah! James, Itās all coming back to me now. As I just mentioned to @HungryHalibut, I think the dealer must have thrown ONE in as a āThank youā. Which means that I sent the Hi-Cap off without itās SNAIC. Whoops!
Funnily enough James, I am! Very controversial I know, but to me it sounds as good.
My partner thought it sounded fractionally better. Mind you, sheās deaf as a post!
Funds from the 282/SC will help pay off the Bartók!
It may well have done but itās not standard. All that comes with the SC is a mains lead. When you buy a 252 - the natural partner for the SC - the 252 comes with the Burndy and Snaic5 to connect to the SC.
If itās not adding value for you, why keep it just because the received wisdom says you should. Iām all for getting rid of as many boxes as possible. Next stop: swap the 300 and the Kudos for some active speakers!
Itās certainly worth thinking about. James came round a while ago and despite owning a Linn Klimax, 350s and some Kudos 606s, thought my little setup was pretty good. You can get a really good bang for the buck with a steaming preamp and active speakers; Iām still amazed how good my system is for Ā£7,500 all in, less than some pay for a single cable.
