Unfortunately the aesthetics of the ATC or PMC active speakers don’t work for me in my apartment and I don’t know anywhere selling the Bartok Apex in my area.
Plus at A$30,000 I think it’s going slightly over budget factoring in the rest of the system…
Stick with Naim and Neat Blythe and our great dealer
I’m likely to be doing just that, or at least other brands they stock
As you want to stick with 2 boxes, the only choice is 222/250. But I don’t feel it will be a big upgrade from what you have.
Maybe you can see Linn. Linn select classic DSM. And you can have 1 box.
I will listen to 222/250 but feel it may be a side-step rather than outright improvement.
The Linn won’t easily multi-room with my 2 x Ci-102’s and Muso-QB’s though…
I do think the New Classic series sound world has changed somewhat from old classic and not everyone is enthusiastic about the NC presentation. More hifi, not so musical are comments I heard. To my ears, the three box 200 series set is a significant improvement on the NDX2/SN combination, but as others hear it differently, an audition is essential.

If you could accept 3 boxes, a 555 dr would be transformative. A big upgrade.
I forgot one brand : Aavik. One or 2 boxes. Some guys went there here. Can’t say for multi room.
French rooster most of the products you are recommending are not available in Australia so no point
The 555PS option would be a definite improvement but I can’t help thinking that those Neats would sound better with an amp upgrade and then things get expensive unless you want a mullet…
Ah, I didn’t realised the OP was in Australia.
Then Naim is perhaps not a good idea as there’s no service possible anymore ? Or a recent update ?
The NAP 250 is a significant upgrade on the SN3 power.
You could trial a 250 using the SN3 as the pre?
My original first post does state “This system is in Sydney Australia my dealer here is Audio Genesis.”
However, I do appreciate your input.
That is a thought, a 250 on the SN3.
I believe I will end up listening to all options and would also like to change my speakers as the aesthetics of my current SX5i speakers do not really suit my new apartment.
Sorry. So what are the brands available in Australia then?
There are too many brands to list but it might mean visiting 3 or 4 different dealers, which makes it virtually impossible to properly compare them.
There is also one dealer in Sydney [who stock Naim] who I found to be useless and will never deal with them again, which also narrows my choices.
New distributor on board and slowly but surely I would think service in near future will be up and running - here’s hoping but looks positive
I wonder if the slow start of the new distributor might be to do with the old one still clearing their old stock at low prices?
You hit it in one Blythe
But I reckon the good times will come through eventually , here’s hoping but I’m positive
Very good news ! Naim is returning to Australia
