Are there songs that have been around for a long time in the background and then suddenly you notice how good they are, or just mean something to?
I’m not sure if it was my mood this morning after returning from a visit to the uk, or the lyrics just leapt out with a change in my set up. I am running a HicapDR, nac82, nap250 classic into my Kans. R2 and Kid Rocks pastiche ‘All summer long’ was played. I heard every word as if for the first time and it was outstanding. It took me straight back to my youth, not in Alabama but Hertfordshire . More importantly it evoked a nostalgia for times past and made a connection. Isn’t that what the best music does, make that connection? An old song that always seemd pleasant enough has now become a favourite, overnight
Two songs immediately spring to mind and invoke great nostalgia and good memories.
Bordeaux Rose - Farfield Parlour : Memories of good times with friends and a certain young lady I can’t explain further children may be watching!
Hawkwind Silver Machine : School/uni discos yes but also a great live Hawkwind concert in Bristol where I met a lovely blonde lady ( a pattern is emerging here)
