Unhappy with the new NAIM update

No. Naim could include a feature destined to be released by a 3rd party in the firmware without actually revealing it until the 3rd party went live. Naim have stated previously they have the code in place to support hi-res Apple music for example just Apple haven’t enabled it for most ‘partners’.

I never really understand Apples logic, if they opened up Apple Music they would easliy gain a lot more subscribers surely

Absolutely. They have lifestyle speakers but they’re hardly high-end.

Apple’s strategy is to add value to the ecosystem rather than add users to one part of that ecosystem. Which is a shame as I wish I could use it natively on Naim

Apple’s ethos is like a fish hook; once you have bitten, you can’t get free. The clever bit is that you think you have bought into something special, but in reality, it is just a comfortable prison. I wish I had thought of it, then I could afford a surround sound system powered by Statement Power amps and a 500 system for the kitchen.

You gave hope that there would be a solution at all.

Thanks for that very sensible post.

I’m not easy to impress and to say 3.10.x didn’t impress me much would be an understatement.

Things will get much much better soon-ish - get that ND555 warmed-up from its cold slumber @drago and better days for it are ahead.

My first hearing of a full Statement System was at Acoustica’s Show in Chester a few years ago and the speakers were the then top-of-the-shop Focals. I’ve not generally enjoyed the more modest Focal speakers I’ve encountered, either on SQ or aesthetic grounds, but that setup was mighty impressive. The room was huge and I suspect that helped but I did conclude that Focal and Naim together wasn’t a complete no-no.

We owe you a gratitude mate for going out of your way to help Naim to help us.
No regrets, you absolutely did the right thing and it was always based on an estimate.
Thank you.

What prevents you from buying a competitor’s product? I must be missing something, but at least where I live, nobody is forced to buy or continue to buy any product.

Thank you Richard, I’m sure we all appreciate the transparency.

@Richard.Dane

Apologies Richard for my slight rant above and I thank you for your background info on Focal guys.

However the post by Focal still has a bit of a marketing spin to it, all companies do it , and I get enough of it from the company that I work for

FR, never wavering from the one true faith. In these days of turmoil it’s great to see such fervent orthodoxy.

But on an uplifting note, next week is the week this thread can be closed, peace will break out in the Naimosphere and we can look forward to new threads about esoteric internet cables that even Naim firmware can’t detract from.
