Hello everyone, as I own a CI-Uniti 102 and a pair of FOCAL Vestia N4 speakers, I was wondering if the Uniti Atom might be of superior quality. I’m hesitant to switch to that model.
Could someone advise me on compatibility and the likelihood of a better setup when paired with the Vestia N4?
Looking forward to your feedback.
While the Atom is of better quality, its power output is a lot less and it’s not something I’d match with a large multi driver speaker. The Nova would be a much better bet I suspect.
Hi Alex - welcome! You’ll find some really helpful folks here.
@Edmund-of-Essex is the only one I can think of that’s had a CI 102; he’s really thorough in his testing - may be worth asking him
Hi Alex and welcome. I doubt you’ll find many on here who use Vestia 4s and have switched from CI 102 to Atom. I certainly haven’t, but Focal do suggest Atom with Vestia 4 as a system, so if your room is not too large I’d expect the combination to work fine with the Atom in play, though a Star or Nova would be even better. Whether you’d prefer the sound is another matter entirely. Taste in hifi is very subjective. Is there any chance you can listen to the alternatives before deciding?
Roger
Hi Alex,
Welcome to the forum. The question you have asked is very clear, however the question generates other questions……..
Your forum info suggests that you have the CI-102 internal power amplifiers driving the Vestia N4 loudspeakers directly (I.e not via any separate amplification).
The answer to the question of will a Naim Atom be superior to the CI-102 for that arrangement is ……there is no simple answer, I.e. it depends.
@PeakMan and @HungryHalibut have already suggested safe ways forward. But since the CI-102 is quite new and a slightly more complex product to properly set up - is that something the dealer did for you or did you purchase directly and install yourself?
Hey Roger, the purchase is fairly recent. I’m thinking of returning the CI-Uniti 102; I’m still within my return period. I’m going to order the Atom to try it out, at least I won’t have any regrets. They recommend the Atom for the Vestia N4 on the Focal website, so I’ll have to give it a go! ![]()
Hi @Edmund from Essex, regarding the purchase of the Ci Uniti 102, no one gave me any advice. I scoured forums and customer reviews. I saw that the Vestia 4 speakers were bass-hungry and needed a lot of power to drive them. That’s why I chose the Ci Uniti 102.
It’s a very good product; the sound is very clear. The bass is present, perhaps a little too much in the mids depending on the music. It’s missing that little something that gives me the “wow” factor. I’d really like a wider soundstage, not necessarily more power, but a much higher listening quality above all. It was while browsing the Focal website that I noticed they recommended the Atom or the Star. So I’m going to try this combination and we’ll see where it leads! ![]()

Hi Alex,
To give you a bit more background as to my knowledge re the Naim CI-102 - it is a product I borrowed from my regular HiFi dealer in the UK. The reason they leant it to me is because they know I am a very focused on finding out what HiFi products can do and I was considering the CI-102 as a second system in a smaller room in my house.
The Naim CI-102 is intended for Focal Naim Dealer installation at a customers home. It is a very capable product and properly set up should have no problems giving you the music replay you desire.
If you chose to do the setup yourself (and it is quite easy really) the Naim CI-102 will enable you to tailor the sound to your room and personal sound preference and even has specific settings for your loudspeakers.
Nevertheless, perhaps the best and simple way forward for you now seems like the path you are choosing, i.e. try the various flavours of Atom or Nova or Star.
That seems pretty sensible. Do post again with your impressions of Atom vs CI 102.
