Uniti Atom HE + PMC 25 active

Hi. I recently bought a Uniti Atom HE and I want to use it as a streamer-preamp; I also have a pair of PMC Twenty5 22i that I can upgrade with the active kit; has anyone tried the Atom with active PMC?

Atom HE with active speakers in small/ medium sized room

I finally got to demo the new PMC Twenty5 23i Actives with my Atom HE. Wow, just wow!! Absolutely incredible sound. My expectations were raised when on entering the dealers an employee whom I’d not met before approached me to ask if it was my demo that the 23’s were set up for. He then enthusiastically informed me that he had been listening to them and had been ‘blown away’. He told me he has an NSC 222 Streaming Preamplifier and a NAP 250 into Passive 23i’s which was great but he’s now thinki…

Hi @Supergiangio, as @robert_h said, I’ve got my Atom HE paired with active PMC Twenty5 23i’s and couldn’t be happier with the setup. I would say the active 22’s would be a perfect match for your Atom HE.

When I got my 23’s the plan had been to get the 22’s myself but I got a great deal on the 23’s - ex-demo - and after hearing them at the dealers I didn’t bother listening to anything else, including the 22’s.

As an update to the story @robert_h referred to, the guy from the dealers with the NSC 222 did end up swapping his NAP250 for active boards for his 23i’s.

I have the twenty5.21i active with an Atom HE and it’s fabulous. The active upgrade is brilliant value and really can be fitted in five minutes. You won’t be disappointed. Get some Mogami XLR leads and off you go.

It’s an ND555 remote. Armed with that information, I’d suggest you ask Naim Support. I have no idea. I think they cost something potty like £800 to buy.

I’ve found the way to home demo the upgrading active kit on my twenty.22.i. Early impressions are not so good:
Positive: more dynamic and bigger soundstage.
Negative: the sound seems to be more “asciutto” in my language (italian)…I think the world in english could be lean.
Do you think it may need some running-in?

I changed from a 300DR driving twenty5.23i to the active modules and ‘lean’ is the last word I’d use.

Can’t speak for the Atom HE as source/pre mind.

Sorry, I’ve made a mistake in positioning the connector in the amplifier; put it in the second slot that is the one for twenty.22 and I have 22i. Now I have moved it in the right slot and the sound has changed radically and gained weight.
