Hi, i am the pround owner of a uniti atom, i bought it new a few months ago. I love it and everything has been great until yesterday when i turned down the volume using the large control atop the atom. There was an almost mechanical noise that came from it and what i can only descibe as a feeling of detention that corresponded to the noise. Somewhat like a wheel bearing breaking down !
It does this as it rotates in either direction. It was butter smooth when new and i have hardly used it for volume control as i usually use the device ( tablet, mobile etc ) im using at the time . I have kept it very clean and dust free. Anyone have any thoughts
or similar experiences?
If it were me I would unplug it and check whether anything such as a hair or any debris has fallen into the volume wheel well and has got lodged in the works. You might want to invert the unit to see if anything comes dislodged.
Hi, thanks for suggestion, i have now tried this to no avail im afraid.
Ok, that’s a shame. It’s probably time to get your dealer on the case.
My two Atoms have a collective use of about 7 years on them, and no problems like this. Definitely time to make use of your warranty.
Hmm , you may be right , was hoping not to have to , but no option i guess , thanks
Thanks , looks like its time to box it up for a journey !
Have you tried using the crevice tool from the vacuum cleaner and giving the knob a good suck? It seems most likely that something is stuck in the gap - our kitchen Qb occasionally gets crumbs in there.
Hi , no i haven’t tried that , i didnt want to start doing something that may cause damage or other problems… i agree it may sound like it has something stuck in there but i keep it covered when not in use, i just don’t see how it could of got in there . No one else uses it or cleans around it etc.
Could be a large dead spider……
It’s worth giving it a go, but be careful not to scratch the surround. It’s what I’d do anyway.
