Since the beginning of October , Norton 360 on my PC has been intercepting SMB Bruteforce attacks across my network . We have only two Windows PCs on the network and these attacks are happening on both .
My only thought is that if you have defined a folder on one of your PCs as a music share in the Core’s setup in the app, then the Core may be trying really hard to scan the share so as to be able to present the results to the app for playing. The Core does use SMB (but not SMB1) for that purpose I think.
I have never heard of a Core “catching” any malware, nor have I ever heard of anyone needing to virus or malware check a Core. So absent my music share idea, I suggest talk to Naim support and please tell us what their answer is!
