UnitiLite and door jam CD mechanism fault

Oh dear, yet again.
My UnitiLite is exhibiting the “door jam” fault yet again. It seems to occur on a three year cycle and based on forum comment is something of a known fault. Do I have to accept yet another repair charge close to £400? Repair costs like this repeating are a little hard to stomach in a product from a high end company such as Naim. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Have a chat with your dealer. I assume you went through them for the last repair. Maybe they can fix it themselves or else plead your case and try to get some concession for you with Naim?

Yes, the repairs have all been coordinated via the supplying dealer. Worth a try.

Curiously after a little bit of repeated open/close with assistance with opening the mechanism door, the symptoms appear to be improving.
Maybe a lack of regular use of the CD player is contributing.

This is caused by the drive belt that turns the drawer-opening mechanism becoming slack. It is trivially easy to change the drive belt yourself. But note that you don’t need to dismantle anything or undo any screws. You can see the belt around the pulley wheels if you look into the slot with the drawer open.

I found a suitable size of belt by buying a bag of drive belts on eBay. But in a post another time this was discussed, @NeilS said that an alternative that may work is to immerse the old belt briefly in almost boiling water (I think a few seconds only).

Mark, I have been experiencing the exact same problem. Like you, I have gently assisted the door opening once I can hear the tray mechanism roll forward. Far from ideal. It looks like the cd collection will be getting a good airing until the internet radio fix is available!

I have just tried iRadio and experienced the same. A quick search and I find there is quite a bit of comment on the forum.
Hopefully the fix is available soon and a easy update that my dealer can install.
