Unitilite connectivity

Hi - I have a Unitilite (c2010) that has been in storage for 4 years. I tried to set it up today but the screen is blank. I don’t have the system on the app so not able to set-up and connect that way. Does anyone have any idea how I might be able to get the system operating? For example, does the system have a standard IP Address that I could use to set-up on the App. Seems a shame if I would just have to discard the system. Thank you.

If the unit was last used over wired Ethernet you shouldn’t need to configure it. Let DHCP do its thing and it should get an IP address automatically, then the Naim app should find it.

If it was set up to use WiFi you will need to reconfigure it , or do a factory reset to restore the default setting, which is Ethernet.

If the screen is dead, first put it in a dark room, turn it on and point a phone camera at the screen. If you’re lucky the camera might show the screen just enough to allow you to scroll through the menu.

If that doesn’t work you can buy a replacement screen from an eBay seller in France who can also offer assistance with installing it if required.

Failing that, someone may be able to talk you through the button presses to configure it ‘blind’.

This “assistance” is just a pdf of instructions which comes with the replacement screen. But it’s easy enough to do as long as you are comfortable getting very intimate with the internals of the Unitilite (I have done this screen change on my Unitilite.)

The UnitiLite will default to Ethernet if connected to the router via its Ethernet port - no need for any factory resets. You can then use the product via the F&N app. But the screen will be required to connect via wi-fi if your SSID &/or password have changed.

Naim still support the replacement of the OLED screens (customer’s recently repaired SuperUniti is heading back from Salisbury as I type) for £159 + P&P.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. Some things for me to try. I am in another house so the SSID & password are different which is going to make wireless setup tricky. That said, if I can operate via the app should be ok.

I connected via Ethernet but still can’t see the Unitilite on the app. I don’t have the IP address of the Unitilite & there is no other option to connect to this old piece of hardware. I haven’t been able to get any joy out of the screen so it seems it has died whilst the Unitilite was in storage. Any other options before I consider whether to bother with screen replacement?

Assuming the U-Lite wasn’t set to a fixed IP address when last in use, the Ethernet connection should work fine, unless there is another issue with the main Audivo network board. If this has failed, then all bets are likely to be off, I’m afraid.

Without a working network board, the OLED replacement cannot be carried out as the two elements are inter-linked, I believe.

A factory reset will clear any DHCP settings and allow you to retry the Ethernet approach. Can’t remember the “no-display” button press sequence off hand but this is out there on the forum and can be undertaken using the front panel keys.

Or take it to a retailer and see if they can help.

Good luck with all of this.

Try this:

Sequence of pressing remote keys:

  1. press “spanner” button -->language

  2. press “up” -->factory settings

  3. press “ok/list” -->system status

  4. press “up” -->reset all settings

  5. press “ok/list” -->resetting to factory defaults. you will lose all user settings. press front panel Play to continue.

  6. press “Play”
