Unitilite firmware upgrade to access the new Internet Radio service

Hi
I’m trying to update the Firmware on my Unitilite to access Internet Radio again. The manual says:
“Firmware 4.9 can only be applied to products running Firmware 3.0 or above, so it’s crucial you check which version you are running…If your Naim product is running earlier versions of the software – for example 2.9 – do not attempt the update, or your product will become inactive”

When I follow the instructions, I see various settings including these:
Version 4.4.0
Ident 11326WE
Boot Version: 2.3.0

I am fairly confident that ‘Version 4.4.0’ relates to the firmware but having just shelled out for a new CD transport as the CD player on the unit refuses to open, I’m nervous about now killing the amp section. Can anyone confirm I am safe to proceed and also, point me to simple instructions on how to get the update from the PC to the unit.
The manual says:
“The rear of your product will have either:

  1. A 9-Pin D-Type RS-232 upgrade connector…
    (or)
  2. A mini-USB B upgrade connector”

But my Unitilite has a USB socket on the front. Do I just hook the PC up to that? Any advice gratefully received

Yes, Version 4.4.0 refers to the Firmware, so you’re fine to update to 4.9.

Your Unitilite should have a mini ‘USB Update’ socket on the rear - see the image here, it’s located on the far right of the rear panel;

You will need a suitable mini USB data cable to connect the UL to your computer.

This link has all the info you need (both for MAC or Windows).

Be sure to follow the instructions exactly. When I updated my UnitiQute 2 (also was on 4.4.0) I found it easiest to take the UQ2 and computer to the router and plug in via ethernet to ensure all was connected properly.

Many thanks Richard, very much appreciated. One final dumb question, on the link you sent that has the links to the download presumably I want the top one for the latest version, 4.9?

Yes, top most is 4.9 for PC. Just underneath is 4.9 for Mac. Do download the guide first though and read it very carefully, and have it open while you do the update so you don’t miss anything critical.

Will do, thanks again and I have located the input and found a cable to fit it, think it might be from an old printer so hopefully carries data but time will tell. All the best

Success! Many thanks again Richard
